Big prop's to Jim Trail of JJJ radio for getting the interview online after the date it was due to air was stuffed up.
After answering our complaints and spam, Jim has come through with the goods! You da man. A BIG BIG thankyou to everyone who emailed Jim as well! If it wasn't for you guys, it wouldn't be available for us to listen to! Not only can we listen now, but so can our overseas buddies! So it all worked out well in the end. So we present to you, a 5 minute interview with our new WORLD CHAMP!
CLICK HERE to check it out.
You do need Real Media Player to stream this, which can be downloaded for free here! (I had to look long and hard for this free download as the others wanted credit card details. Thanks to Monash University....shhh don't tell them)
Thanks once again to Jim and a certain DHmum for bringing this to the people.
The Saga has now ended !

Update: Ok, you can stop spamming him now. Here is his reply.
Hey lads and lasses,
So who got up early on Saturday to listen to our newest world champions Interview on JJJ last Saturday?? Well, if you did and wondered why it wasn't on, well it was moved to Sunday (which no-one knew about...).
So, I would think it appropriate that us mtb'ers, email jim.trail@your.abc.net.au and ask him to replay it this coming weekend! C'mon it's not everyday (or weekend) we get to here stomper on the airwaves!
I would think about a hundred plus emails ought to do it! Lucky we have 1800 members on the forums! So lets make it 1800 emails.
I'll even write the email for you! Just copy and paste this and fire it off:
Jim,
As I am extremely disappointed missing out on Australia's very own World Downhill Mountain Biking champion Nathan Rennie’s interview (Scheduled last Saturday), I would like to hear a replay ASAP please!
Regards,
Farkin.net website reader (or something similar)
Lets get behind this and be heard!

 | Cedric Gracia wins Red Bull Rampage (2 comments) (link) Tuesday, 21-October-2003 2:17 PM - by Ryan | |
|
French born and Whistler-based rider Cedric Gracia has taken out the final of the 2003 Red Bull Rampage held in Virgin, Utah.
CG beat out a field of talented and more fancied freeriders (there's a surprise, a racer winning a freeride comp) with a final fun that mixed massive balls with trademark Gracia style.
Canadian Andrew Shandro took out second place followed by relatively unknown Irish rider Glyn O'Brien.
With downhill racers winning both the major Red Bull freeride comps this year one can only hope the change of direction that has been talked about for Red Bull will see more money getting directed back to where the real talent in MTB lies, DH racing.
It's good to see that in a year when the worlds best racers competed for nothing but the love of the sport on the NORBA circuit, the racer boys can still get out and earn some cash from a $25,000 huck-or-die circus show.
2003 Red Bull Rampage Final Results / Prize Money / Points
1st Cedric Gracia $3,500 88.8
2nd Andrew Shandro $2,200 84.8
3rd Glyn O’Brien $1,200 79.4
4th Michael Marosi $800 77.6
5th Steve Romaniuk $600 77.2
6th Thomas Vanderham $400 76.4
7th Greg Minnaar $300 76.2
8th Mike Kinrade $200 73.6
9th Greg Smith $200 70.2
10th Kyle Richey $200 70.2
11th Richie Schley $200 60.4
12th Joe Schwartz $200 DNF
You can check out a much fancier version of the results on the Red Bull Rampage homepage as well as a press release that contains a recap of the days riding. |
 | Chris Kovarik Injured In Moto Crash (30 comments) (link) Tuesday, 21-October-2003 1:17 PM - by DOM | |
|
There have been some stories going around regarding CK hurting himself in a motocross riding accident recently.
I have it on good authority that the rumours are indeed true; he has apparently done some damage to his ankle and fibula and recently underwent surgery to fix some of the damage.
As everyone knows Kovarik is a meat axe and shouldn't have any problem coming back from his injury, it'll to be sad to see him not race at the Nationals in a couple of weeks though.
On behalf of the Farkin team we wish him a speedy recovery and hope he doesn't get to bored while he's off the bike. |

Pinkbike have some photo's news and an injury report from the 2003 Redbull Rampage in Utah. The event would of have just ended as I type this so look out for full results soon. Cedric was the points leader on Day 1 ahead of a very star studded line up of crazy *******. For all the action youll have to jump over to Pinkbike who probably havent slept since Interbike.

Zest Productions has announced that due to a 'change of direction' by Red Bull Australia for 2004, there will be no Red Bull Ride held next year.
We met Mike Atkins and Mark Turner (organiser and chief marshall of the RBR respectively) on our trip to Sydney recently and they were two of the nicest and most enthusiastic guys you could hope to meet, good luck for the future fellas and hopefully you'll be bringing us kick-ass, world class, 'new-school' events again in '05.
Head on over to Zest Productions to check out the full press release. |

Some big races recently up north, with the Cairns MTB club holding their Club Championships recently. Bryn and Mick are both home and tearing the place apart, but check the times as there is a super quick Jr getting around (Ezra Barthold ) whom I think we should be looking out for as it's always good to see new talent busting out. Watch for this LAD !

Some big changes for the 04 , 05 American Norba Series.
I have flicked through this article and get the impression "it's all good" hopefully the revival of the series. Although I didnt read anywhere about the inclusion of prize money ? Although a good change is the inclusion of Metro area's into the series.

 | Hilltop Oasis (Bris. MTB Park) to close. (19 comments) (link) Thursday, 9-October-2003 1:39 PM - by DOM | |
|
Just found out that Brisbane's MTB park is closing due to a descision made by the land owners. Apparently they are concerned about the possibility of legal action taken if something went wrong at the park.
I've never been to the park but I've known Shane and Jasen ( park starters main builders ) for a while and I tell you, these dudes have some serious motivation. To get the park to where it is now has taken 10months of heartache, digging and organising etc and they havent slowed down since the first soil was turned 10 months ago. I know Shane has put his balls on the line a number of times to keep this park running but I guess the land owners have first priority.
Shane, Jasen, everyone who lifted a spade or supported the MTB Park major props to you.
Farkin.net respects your efforts and determination.

Im pretty sure this is about to go official but if not who cares the internet if full of rad rumours aint it.
Seems our little Brother NZ will be hosting the 06 worlds on one of their awesome DH courses. Talk is the event will be held in Wellington where the DH is pretty much in the city which will be awesome for spectators.
Hopefully Farkin.net will still be pimping in 06 and im sure a road\air trip will take place. More on this is a couple of years.
Maybe Jacob's can organise a pre World's event downunder as a lead up to the Worlds in NZ. Any other MTB bodies reading this, here is your chance to get some world class riders back on our shores..... although most of the world class riders are Australian anyway hehehe.

 | Litter Magazine online supplement #23 (1 comments) (link) Friday, 3-October-2003 7:21 PM - by Ryan | |

Everyone go here and check out the latest online supplement from Litter Mag.
You'll like it because it has pretty pictures of people riding bikes and trivia questions to keep you amused.
It also has cool new things from Nicolai and Evil in the ads contained therein. Much like Litter Mag, Evil and Nicolai are 'nu-skool' and 'edgy'.
To sweeten the deal, a hidden link has been placed among the 45 pages of the Online Supplement. If you find this link and click on it, your email software will be activated with a message to Gordo containing a secret subject. The first 3 cyberhacks to email gordo with this secret subject will receive a FREE copy of "Clappin' Yo' Dome" DVD and a print issue of Litter.
This has been a blatant cross promotional exercise from farkin.net and Litter Mag, you know we own. |
