 | Legal DH @ Mt Cootha Brisbane (7 comments) (link) Wednesday, 25-August-2004 11:26 AM - by DOM | |
|
Words from Sparkman.
Just letting all the brisbane crew know that we are in the process of forming a lobby group to help gain access to legal DH trails at Mt Coot-tha. We are going to be a "dag" off the bum of the Gap Creek Trails Alliance, who already have credibility with the council. We are going to propose a series of legal DH trails with in the Gap Creek/Mt Coot-tha forest area. Most of the trails should be suitable for shuttle runs. There are some possibilities within the ring road.
We also want to work with council on any proposed alternative areas for DH riding, just to make sure that we don't get a patch of land with a graded fire road and 5 of fall.
The bottom line is that as a user group we need representation. To get representation, we need numbers. To that end there will be a petition going around at some bike shops and the sunshine series DH championships. Please sign it to add your voice.
More info can be found over at mtbdirt.com
in either the trails section of the GCTA section of the forums. |

Liam just sent word that he broke his collarbone a few hours ago. He won't be able to make the Worlds and will be flying home soon.
You have to feel for the poor fella, he's gone all that way and didn't even get to race! Not to worry, I'm certain he'll be back on tracks and podiums in no time at all.
Best wishes for a quick recovery. |

Jonno Taylor (formerly of Australian Mountain Bike) and Matt Holmes of 20/20BMX magazine will be launching their new magazine [R]evolution this October, aiming squarely at the middle-ground of the Australian market and looking to shake things up a little.
JT explains, "How does this sound; Pro bike checks, maintenance with Australia's #1 mechanic, how to's by Sharples, Rennie and Trent Lowe have their own diarys, state by state news, exclusive pics from Australia's finest snappers along with crew from around the world such as Spomer and Bliss.
Then there will be, Jacob's corner, in-depth unbiased bike reviews (on bikes you might actually buy for once). 4 pages dedicated to the scene in NZ, (and the build up to the World Champs over there). Add to that masses of up to date product and industry news and that's pretty much it."
The magazine will cover all disciplines of mountain biking and Jonno tells me it's something he and Matt Holmes have dreamed of doing ever since working together at AMB.
[R]evolution will offer an alternative to AMB with unbiased and untainted news and reviews and will hopefully win back the respect that other magazine's bowing to commercial pressure has cost the magazine industry amongst readers over the years.
Sounds good to me, so good in fact that I've signed my soul over to the [R]evolution and will be contributing a Queensland news column each issue and (hopefully) more content as the mag progresses. Check farkin for more updates as the release of issue one gets closer. |

The lads at Mudcows.com have been busy filming over the last few months. As you know the birth of Mudcows 4 is still in progress and is sure to be one hell of a phat baby ! However something you may not know is the possibility of a TV series featuring all the crazy footage which has been compiled over the season. Much like the Canadian production "Dropin" series but with that prawn on the "bar-b" flavour. More on this when news is brought to hand but fingers crossed all goes well for the venture and we see something come to life.
Check out all the other updates @ Mudcows.com including Glen Jacob's recent "trail building" story to be featured in an upcoming magazine release. |

Word has come in that Steve Peat, who currently holds an unassailable points lead in the 2004 World Cup broke his collarbone contesting the Maxxis Cup round in Barcelona, Spain over the weekend.
With just 4 weeks to go until the World Championships it will be a race against time for Peaty if he wants to snare himself a rainbow jersey. |
