Brooks/Gatzka Win Third Round of UFC IV - Round 4 Videos Now Online!
(2 comments) (link) Tuesday, 29-March-2005  08:28 AM - by Scott
We’re now officially at the halfway point of the fourth annual Ultimate Freeride Challenge. The 3rd round of voting has come to an end with Matt Brooks and Jared Gatzka taking the win.

“This marks another UFC first” says Race Face’s Marshall Rutman “We’ve had group entries in the UFC before but none have managed to advance to the semi-finals. I think Matt and Jared put together a really strong video – obviously our online community felt the same way as they took a convincing win in this round.”

Matt and Jared now move on to the semi-finals where they will face the winner from Round 4. The winners of our semi-final round will be flown down to the Sea Otter Classic and on April 16th at the BIKE Magazine Video Awards, we’ll tally the votes and announce the winner of the fourth annual Ultimate Freeride Challenge.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, we’ve got another four new videos to check out. Here’s the riders who’ll be competing this week for that one last semi-final spot:

Joe Perrizo – 20
Derek Alexander - 19
Jonas Green - 24
Steve Tuchiwksky - 19

Now go online, view the vids and vote for who you think should advance for a chance to win a sponsorship contract with Race Face, Giant Bicycles and Manitou Suspension worth over US$25,000!

Click through to www.raceface.com/ufc to check it out.

Kurt Sorge Wins Second Round of UFC IV - Third Round Vids Now Online!
(0 comments) (link) Monday, 21-March-2005  09:15 AM - by Scott
The 2nd round of the Race Face Ultimate Freeride Challenge has come to an end with 16 year old Kurt Sorge taking the win by the narrowest of margins over Derek Peltzer. When all votes were tallied, less than 200 votes separated the two riders.

Congratulations go out to Kurt and we wish him the best of luck as he moves on to the Semi-Finals, where he’ll compete against last week’s winner, Dustin Bryant for a spot in the UFC Finals. One of these two young riders will be flown down to the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California for the winner announcement which will take place at the BIKE Magazine Video Awards on April 16th.

“This week was really exciting to watch and once again, we had record traffic to the site.” says Race Face’s Marshall Rutman “In fact, we had to do an unexpected upgrade to our UFC server just to keep up to the demand. This should result in quicker video downloads in the weeks ahead so I think our online community will be stoked.”

The third round videos are now online and ready for your vote. The four competitors this week are:

Brooks/Gatzka 19/27
James Doerfling 18
Ryan Berrecloth 26
Darrell Knelson 19

Now go online, view the vids and vote for who you think should advance for a chance to win a sponsorship contract with Race Face, Giant Bicycles and Manitou Suspension worth over US$25,000!

Race Face Performance Products, along with Giant Bicycles and Manitou Suspension is proud to announce the fourth annual Ultimate Freeride Challenge is officially underway with the first round of rider videos now online!

The contest, which spawned the riding careers of Tyler Klassen, Matt Hunter and Wayne Goss is now set to take another rider for the amateur ranks and deliver them to super stardom. And as always: you get to decide who wins.

For those of you who are new to the UFC, here’s how it works. Every week, we’ll be posting four rider videos online for you to view and vote for who you think should advance to future rounds. The four riders who advance will be paired off in the semi-finals and once again, you’ll be asked to vote – this time choosing which two riders should meet in the finals. While final voting continues, Race Face, Giant and Manitou will fly the two finalists down to the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California and on April 16, at the BIKE Magazine Video Awards Party, we’ll be announcing the winner and signing them to a sponsorship contract worth over US$25,000!

Just remember, we’re putting the power in your hands to choose our next big sponsorship acquisition, so make your voice heard.

Click through to www.raceface.com/ufc to view and vote for the videos.

You’ve got exactly one week to view the videos and make your choice. Next Friday, we’ll let you know who advanced as we post the next round of videos online.
