From ridemonkey, Source - Todd from Ironhorse
[i]Sammus did indeed break his elbow in a training crash prior to MSA. From how it was told, elbow armour wouldn't have helped as he landed arm outstretched. He is in transit back to Oz to have his elbow checked out. The AIS will take good care of him for sure. He is out for Brazil and NM World Cups. He should be back for Worlds and the end of the WC season.

Two Wheel Promotions:NRG Cycling Club is hosting Round #4 of the Sunshine D/Hill Series this Sunday 3rd July.
NRG Club has asked us to let you know that the DOWNHILL will be held rain or shine as the track can withstand wet weather.
For more information, entry forms log onto our website www.twowheelpromotions.com.au
On-Line Entries – Save time and enter online. You must enter on-line by Friday Night as we pack up the Office & get the timing truck ready on Saturday for an early start Sunday morning. Some riders are turning up saying they have done an on-line entry of the morning of the race or late the night before. That is no good as we are not in the Office to receive them. We need them by Friday night.
TOWOOMBA Downhill #3 was postponed until 14th August
The Club has designed a fantastic course. It was a real shame for everyone, Clubs, workers and riders with the wet weather causing postponing the Downhill.
What about all the mud, heaps of cleaning of bikes and the Timing Truck and Race Numbers were full of mud.
More info regarding Day licences and info will be sent out after discussions with the Toowoomba Club. You will need to fill in another race entry form.
See you all at Castle Hill this week-end. |

If you ride mountain bikes, then the chances are you also break mountain bikes. We all know there are a lot of sheds and bedrooms around the country storing their own little collection of scrap metal... and let's face it, no one likes to throw out things that cost us money, right? But the reality is those broken frames are about as much use to you now as an anchor! So why not make at least a few dollars off them?
For those of you who haven't noticed the "wanted" ad in the Farkin forums, GripSport is looking for cracked and broken frames and is even willing to pay for them!
So here's your chance to turn that useless junk into a few dollars. See here for details - http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=33207 |

| I said in my review that I could be wrong (about the footage being sped up), and I'd eat my words if that were the case. Alex has contacted me and assured me that Earthed 2 is not sped up, and I believe him. That being the case, I'll take this opportunity to apologise to Alex and commend him on making riders look fast. I've updated my review here. |

For those that are planning to come up to Toowoomba this weekend, Greg has posted some info for you all. Find it here.
In brief, this will be Toowoomba's first ever DH race on the brand new council approved race track. What's it like? Wide open and fast. Not quite like anything Queensland has seen yet. It's also on a pretty decent sized hill.
The Toowoomba Council have really got behind our newly formed Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club (TMBC) so we would appreciate a good turn out (riders and spectators). If all goes well it is likely the council will continue and maybe even increase its support for future races. |

Update: I've been informed that due to issues with songs played in the soundtrack, the episode could not be aired. Instead they (C31) re-ran the Mt Buller video again.
Not finalised yet, but we may have a downloadable version of the episode up on this site shortly (without the soundtrack). Stay tuned..
---A new bike show on C31 in Victoria is airing a Eildon special tonight at 6:30.
All budding riders should watch it as there is a segment on what sponsors look for in a rider. There is 4x action XC and DH. We also have some dirt on Tracey Hannah from her brother and vice versa.
The gooch is new weekly show on C31 and has been running now for the last 4 weeks. The show tonight is presented from VICMTB garage sale.
Anyone who can see the show please watch it and let me know at goochproductions@dodo.com.au what you thought and where we can improve. If you want the gooch to come out and film yourself drop us a line.
We cover local Victorian events for now however we will be expanding nationally.
We need plenty of feedback so let us know what you thought.
Bob Spagnolo Local Mountain Biking on TV can't be a bad thing! So help Bob out by telling him what you think (please be constructive). |

2005/2006 National MTB Season Announced
Tuesday, June 07, 2005
The 2005 - 2006 national MTB Season is finalized and comprises 4 rounds in XC and DH with all to count towards the final national ranking.
All venues are high profile sites which promise the delivery of awesome MTB competition. More events have both XC and DH - better for the spectators and public - more show for the doe!
XC1 and DH1 will be held in Tasmania for the first time since 2000. Expect the Tasmanians to put on a huge show! Readers of other MTB websites will already know that the newest and biggest MTN X course in Australia has just been built in Tassie, which together with perfect weather for mountain biking, great beer and a very enthusiastic local crew: this event will rock.
XC2 and DH2 will be held in WA, the first time since 1999!
XC3 will be the first selection race for Australian Elite riders at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and will also incorporate the 2006 University Games. The 2006 Commonwealth Games XC course will be used, so if you missed out on tickets for the M2006 come along and see what this spectacular venue has to offer.
The season finals will be staged once again at Mt. Buller, and XC will again be a long loop format, albeit with some minor changes to remove some of the more technically challenging parts of the course to make the race even more enjoyable.
Six rounds are scheduled in MTN X. Of particular note is the first MTN X competition to be held in conjunction with the 2005 Australian Bike Show at a permanent MTN X track at Olympic Park in the middle of Sydney. Can you say "Bring MTB to the people?"
As announced recently the 2006 National Championships will be split to separate venues for XC and DH to accommodate XC Commonwealth Games selection needs and to fit in with other events already scheduled in Thredbo. The National Champs will NOT be part of the Series.

Currently available online and hitting newsagents next Thursday, CLICT #3 is 96 pages packed with goodness. There is a full wrap from every DH and MTNX round as well as the full Nationals story, controversy and all. Not only is there the race coverage, but there are in depth interviews with Mick Hannah, Nathan Rennie, Carlo Deickmann and two 'unknowns' Rohan Gearing and Darren Pokoj. Not happy with just that we also stuck in a heap of pages covering the Sea Otter and SRAM's '06 product launch. The latest bikes from Sinister, Giant, Mountain Cycle and Norco are ridden and reviewed as well as an exclusive preview of the all new GT iT1 gearbox bike. Click here for some sample words from the upcoming issue of Clict. If you can't wait for it to hit the news stands log onto www.driftbikes.com to buy your copy today. Enjoy!

Update: The truth is out; yes it is a real shock. No, it isn't for a mountain bike. It is in fact an 18inch long shock for an ATV.
Thanks Elayna from Fox Racing Shox for clearing that up.
---
Not a lot of detail came with this photo, the anonymous sender wrote that they (the photos) were "..taken at great personal risk at a top secret testing facility". They also noted that they are "exclusive pics of the 2006 Fox Float X EVOL".
I'm not sure of the validity of this email, so I thought I'd just post it for you guys to decide. Looks interesting etiher way. |

I would have posted this a couple days back but Jono made sure I checked the magazine for you all to make sure it isn't crap. Thankfully, I can assure you it isn't; another solid issue not dominated by ads!
Here's the cover...

From what I've heard so far, the round held in Willingen, Germany was a joke. The track was flat, and almost entirely man made. There were 20+ 30ft+ gaps on the track and plently of flat out pedally bits. Despite all that we had a strong set of results in Rennie 3rd, CK in 4th and Hill 5th.
The 4X was even worse, the top 16 men (who didn't race saturday due to rain out) did not even race at all in protest. The electronic gate did not work, so the officials went with a "ready-set-go" manual gate system. The riders weren't having a bar of that, so opted to play skid-down-the-hill along side the track instead.
Eight women riders did contest the 4X when officials made it clear that points would be counted for overall standings, however Jill Kintner did not make it to the gate after being told the race was not on. Not to be to far outdone by the males protest, the women got up on the podium with their backs to the press.
It's pretty clear that the UCI did not do their homework on this one. Sure the rain wasn't their fault, but authorising a race on a tiny hill isn't a recipie for a good race track. |

 | DirtRag to sell online in Australia (6 comments) (link) Thursday, 2-June-2005 3:27 PM - by Scott | |
|
PRESS RELEASE: JUNE 2 2005
DIRTRAG, the world renowned independent MTB mag is to have a 100% reliable supply in Australia.
To those who know of it, DirtRag is the only one true mountain biking magazine in the world, one that many have tried to copy...and failed. For over 17 years the DirtRag crew have remained a solid bastion of independent, alternative mtb journalism and continue to do so; telling it like it is, never bowing to fads, trends or advertiser pressures. Probably why it is one of the most highly regarded magazines in the industry.
Lab-Gear is very proud to announce that as of July 1 (Issue #115), it will be selling DirtRag to Australian mountain bikers as part of its regular product line, feeling that DirtRag embodies many of the things that Lab-Gear believes in as a company. As with other aspects of Lab-Gear, DirtRag will be only available online (making it accessible to you no matter where you are) and will sell for the great price of $11.00 per issue including postage anywhere in Australia. For the first time ever Australian mountain bikers now have a regular per issue sale point for this most excellent of magazines.
DirtRag will be available to buy at http://www.lab-gear.com come July 1, 2005. If you want to ensure your copy, drop the crew at Lab-Gear an email |
