Fabian Barel has broken the scaphoid in his right foot while riding in Finland. This means he'll be out of action for three months and will be unable to defend his World Championship title in Rotorua.
If you are unaware Fabian won the Oceania race on the Worlds track earlier this year against other heavyweights such as Hill and Gracia. He looked like a serious contender for the World Championship title yet again having won in 2004 and 2005.

This message from Nicole McVicar of Warringah Council:
Manly Dam bike circuit is closed until further notice. This is due to serious erosion as a result of continuous wet weather. This is a temporary closure and we will re-open the track as conditions improve. Rangers will patrol to enforce this closure.

Travis Deane:OK Kids this came out about a week ago but it took a while to work through. The management plan for Eagle MTB park is out. A 1.2 Million dollar MTB park! It's been happening since 2001 but back it now and you might get to ride your christmas present there this year (hint, hint). They need public feedback on the management plan and you can bet there will be a dozen negative feedbacks (especially seeing that it’s being publicised the newspapers etc.) The question is how many MTBers will take 2 minutes out of their lives to fill out the feedback and support the plan? A dozen riders and we have 50% of people supporting the plan, Ideally we would like to get 98% like we did for the Mitcham MTB plan which means every person who has looked at a bike, or is a friend or family member has to get online and support the plan. Make sure you email this to all your friends. Nige the trails officer at AMTBC and a member of MTB-TAG has these suggestions of the plan. Check out full post here. |

The US National Mountain Bike Titles were held this weekend at Infineon, California. The format of this race was a little confusing with international riders allowed to race some events and not others. Also, similar to The Aussie titles, no foreigner could actually "claim" the national title. Whilst the Australian's and other non US persons where not allowed to race the 4X they were allowed to race the DH (to obtain NORBA series points only) and the Aussies took away another NORBA win. Information is a little sketchy to obtain as official results do not list any non US persons (it all seems to be kept under some vale of secrecy at the moment) but here's the low down I got from Amiel today:
Men
----
1. Amiel Cavalier (AUS)
2. Jared Rando (AUS)
3. Des Curry (NZL)
4. Ben Bell (AUS)
5. Andrew Neethling (RSA)
