 | Working Bee at the Blue Nurses jumps - Ashgrove, QLD (10 comments) (link) Wednesday, 23-May-2007 6:02 PM - by Ryan | |
|
Straight from the mouth of the wise old sage himself, Gav Finlay,
The D'aguilar Range Cycling Club (DRCC) in association with the Brisbane City Council are forming a formal trail care group to look after the jumps at the end of Monoplane Street / Barnett Road in Ashgrove, more commonly known as "Blue Nurses". Click here for a map
The first trail care day will be held on Sunday, July 1st from 8:30am to 12:30pm. DRCC will be cranking out the BBQ for all diggers and Matt Addison will be providing free beer to everyone in attendance*. If you've expressed interest in helping out in this thread you'd better turn up, because you've given us your details and we'll hunt you down like a dog if you don't!
*Matt may not actually provide everyone with free beer. Or anyone with free beer for that matter. |
 | Attention: 2008 Victorian State series sponsors (0 comments) (link) Tuesday, 22-May-2007 8:44 PM - by swanny | |
|
The organising committee has been hard at work preparing the 2007/2008 Victorian DH state series. We have already confirmed 8 events for the calendar so it going to be a huge year for racing in Victoria. We are currently searching hard for sponsors to support this racing calendar and so far we are getting a fantastic response.
We decided this year to tackle the sponsorship head on and allow absolutely anyone from any company to support these events. With nearly 500 riders attending this years races it is a great opportunity for your company to get involved and really give back to the riders who buy your products.
A sponsorship proposal has been drawn and now everyone has the opportunity to be involved, no excuses.
So, if you, your company or you know someone that would like to be involved please forward your expression of interest to
Jerry Healy

 | Qashqai Urban Challenge Final Results – Madrid (1 comments) (link) Sunday, 20-May-2007 10:16 AM - by Scott | |
|
The final runs of the top twelve riders at the Madrid stop of the Qashqai Urban Challenge were absolutely off the charts. Riders were tricking lines that had previously not been attempted, and at the end of the day, Paul Basagoitia came out on top.
Day two of the Street stop of the Qashqai tour brought out some new, creative lines from riders like Darren Pokoj, Chris Akrigg and Darren Berrecloth.
The day started out with the second round of qualifying, where Darren Pokoj (who qualified fourteenth after the first round) found a new line through the stair section of the course, 270-ing off of the first cement block, hitting the wallride, then doing a bunnyhop 180, sliding his front tire around on the wedge landing to complete the 360-degree rotation. Pokoj flipped the step-up and ended his run with a 360-nosedive on the last jump.
Story continues here.

Reports are that the heavens opened up (rain, hail the lot) on the elite men field about 20 riders into the final runs (with 60 to go). With less than 20 riders to go the sun came out to provide some relief for the last few riders but it still wasn't enough for them to topple Marc Beaumont from the top position (on a dry track).
