"Preparations are well under way for the 2007 Scott Australian 24hr Mountain Bike Championships. This year the event will be held at Mt Stromlo with an exciting new double loop concept.
Of course to run an event of this nature is not a simple exercise and this year, as with all previous years we will be relying on the support of a large team of volunteers. Therefore we need your help in delivering this fantastic event to the mountain biking community of Australia. Typical jobs will include general site duties eg hanging banners and moving barriers into place; preparing registration and timing areas; assisting with enquiries from riders and spectators; rostering on for the merchandising shop, registration and timing; helping with the pack-up/clean-up at the end of the race etc etc.
Even if you are not a CORC member and would like to volunteer (just for the pleasure of knowing you have been involved in the biggest 24 hour race in the world) then you, too, are very welcome to help out.
There are some great prizes to be won by our volunteers including iPods and clothing vouchers. This is of course in addition to the special schwag that we have reserved for all of our volunteers.
If anyone is interested in putting their name down for a couple of hours work (and free drinks and
food) please complete the Volunteer Registration document at the CORC Website. For further information check the CORC website, email Leanne Henderson on leannehenderson@grapevine.com.au or phone 02 6292 3687 or 0414 524 689.
This is the clubs largest fund raiser for the year so if you can spare some time (even if and when you are racing) please contact Leanne.
Cheers
Anthony Burton
CORC President"
- you can find the volunteer rego form on the CORC website or the Scott 24hr website. |

It seems we are having a repeat of what happened at the Mt Stromlo facility with people riding the track while it is closed. A lot of work has been put in to secure this new MTB facility by the clubs, track builders, State Forests, etc and we don’t need ungrateful people stuffing things up for the rest of us.
So one more time – The track being used for the upcoming State Downhill Finals at Awaba State Forest is CLOSED until Friday 31st August. Any riders caught riding the track before this time will be automatically banned from the upcoming IXS Gravity round as well as ALL future races in the Hunter region.
The fire road used to access the race track is also closed until Friday 31st. Track builders and volunteers are accepted of course.
On another note, entries for the upcoming IXS Gravity round close this Wednesday (29th August), so get your entry in now if you haven’t already. Enter online here |

Pretty much everyone who is serious about the Olympics is at this race. Amoung the Australians are Jared Graves and Luke Madill. This race will no doubt have a heavy weighting on Olypmic selections.
