Clict 2 is the second instalment in Black Phoenix Films Videozine series. A mountain bike movie portraying the lifestyle and ideas of the magazine it gets its name from. If you’re a reader of the magazine you’ll have a good idea of what is in the film. A true Aussie view of the racing scene here in Australia and snippets of overseas action. Plus the general fooling around on bikes that comes with these riders, from downhill runs to dirt jumping and skate park action.
The film mainly focuses on Downhill and Mountain Cross racing from the Australian National Series, so expect to see the likes of Rennie, Hill, Rando, Kovarik and the rest of the crew ripping up the local racing scene. Along with this there is footage from the Oceania’s and World Champs from Rotorua in New Zealand, dirt jumping in the UK and a SLAM! session (basically guys ripping skate parks on mountain bikes) on New South Wales Central Coast.
It’s all put together with a good dose of Australian and international music. With the Hilltop Hoods, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Millencolin and a cool Aussie band called Change of Face plus many more. I’ve always felt Black Phoenix Films choose good music for their videos. This is no different with the music matching the mood of the riding with hip hop for the jump sections and smattering of rock for the downhill stuff.
There is huge amount of Mountain Cross footage shown in Clict 2. More than any other mountain bike film I’ve seen. I haven’t timed this to check but it seems to get just as much running time as the downhill sections. I’m not sure if this is a good thing as I find it gets a bit repetitive. Although this will no doubt depend on peoples personal tastes.
They did get some awesome footage in the making of this film with most of it revolving around Sam Hill. His awesome gap at the World Championships along with his killer drifts was an awesome sight to see. Not to mention the Aussie crowd at the World Champs and of course Rennie cracking a VB straight after his run at the same race.
As with all DVD releases these days there was an assortment of bonus footage. This included more random riding footage, Glen Jacobs on Mountain Cross and an interview with Steve Peat. There are also teasers of the newest releases out soon from the Disorder, Kranked, Earthed and Pusher series.
With its relaxed style and casual attitude Clict 2 shows all that’s been happening with the best Australian riders over the past year. The footage shows some of the greatest riding you could ever hope to see (thank Sam Hill for that) and the music really helps set the scene making the viewing a great experience. All up it is another worthy addition to my coffee table collection of mountain bike films.
