Anyone doing shuttles at Stromlo or anywhere else around Canberra this weekend?

There is a DH race happening at Stromlo this weekend on the beginner DH track. Enter the race and you can have all the shuttles you want.
I do believe it is $30 a head for two days worth.

A bargain in any language.
Is there more than 1 downhill track, or is the 'beginner DH' just avoiding the A-line?
If there's a race on I'd prefer to ride somewhere else as my experience with race days is most of the time is spent waiting and only getting 3 or 4 runs in for the whole day.
I assume public vehicle access to the top is closed during the race?
Obviously I haven't been there before (from Sydney) and keen to check it out but don't want to spend the whole time watching other people ride.

There are 2 separate DH tracks at Stromlo:
1. the Championship one coming down the Eastern face to the event centre and main carpark, and;
2. the new beginner trail ("western wedgetail") coming down the north-western face to the western trailhead on Uriarra Road.
The race this weekend will be using the western wedgetail, so the championshiop one will be open for use. The starting point for the championship one is accessible by car via the road leading up to the observatory.
The Championship course now has a few more formal easier lines to make it more usable by less experienced riders, while still offering the skilled riders the technical lines.
You will be right to use the championship course this weekend.

Cool, sounds good, will definitely hit it up.
Are there other tracks around Canberra worth checking out, or are they 'secret' tracks?

Does the Hunchback of Notre Da'me use a wok as an ironing board? Affirmative on both accounts.
Sparrow Hill has great XC riding as does Majura Pines. Majura also has 2 or 3 DH runs (the local DH'ers can help you here with directions), and you'll also find a DH track at Kowen club course on Sutton Road as well as one at Isaac's Ridge (which I understand is one of the more technical DH tracks in Canberra). Tuggeranong Pines also has a DH track, as well as some snippets of XC trail.
If that doesn't keep you busy then Kowen Club course also has a fun 7-8km XC loop, and the old 24hr course staring up near the Kowen homestead is also there (albeit a bit damaged by the MotoX guys).
Check out the Events\Race Venues section of the CORC website (www.corc.asn.au) for directions.
