Hi LabRat,
I regularly nip out for quick couple of circuits of the two Western Plantation tracks, stopping off to embarrass myself at the skills area on the way. Was complimented for a perfect fluke wheelie exit off the side of one of the sea-saws a couple of months ago. Just wish I could learn to do that sort of thing on demand... I would like to explore the You Yangs a bit more when I get the opportunity.
I have ridden over most of Lysterfield as well. Don't need a map. It's where I got my first massive black bruises. I know of a few other tracks here and there.
What sort of riding interests you? I like most types of MTB but I still consider myself in need of technical skills improvement - e.g. graceful log jumping. I ride a Stumpy. Have a couple of other riding buddies (women) one rides a Jamis Dakar XLT dually and the other a Yukon hardtail. It is quite hard to find times when we can ride together though.
Let me know when you are free to ride and what sort of track you fancy. Maybe we can hook up. Two of us might be riding tomorrow afternoon.

Cool!!
I love to ride any fun tracks but also like the endurance stuff.. just did the QLD Epic 110km last year, but my fitness has dropped heaps with the stress of moving town...
I do the normal 9-5 monday-Friday job so any other time is MTB time!
Cheers

My fitness goes up and down too. I have a desk job - programming. Can't always ride as often as I would like to.
I don't think this weekend is possible. Maybe next weekend - Feb 3. I will send you a message before the next ride. We can meet at the trail head. Do you look at your email every day?

Yep, I check my email every day :)
Next weekend sounds great, except you might have to explain where the "trail head" is :o
Cheers

That would be right, I have just moved from Melbourne back to Newcastle
Loved doing Lysterfield & you don't need a map as the signs are good, it can get pretty busy though. I recommend trying a night ride (great fun just make sure you make some noise the wallabies are pretty slow to move out of the way sometimes) :D
You Yangs are good too, depending on how technical you want to get, the stock yards are a blast for some lovely fast single track. Get a copy of the map & personally you would be better off with a guide there.
Have fun

My wife regularly rides the "Youies" and always looking for some training partners. Check out her website (http://www.jessicadouglas.com), and drop her a line, I know she is always up for a ride and would love to show you around the You Yangs.
P.S she might be able to help out with the technical stuff too (http://www.mtbskills.com.au).

Awesome! Thanks for your replies!
I checked out Lysterfield by myself last weekend and it was packed... full of Kangaroos!! :) And, Yes, they are pretty slow to move out of the way.
Lysterfield was awesome fun and really well signed. Will make the trip out to You Yangs this weekend and do a small solo ride. Can anyone recommend a good site for a map?? Haven't found any chicks to ride with yet, and suprisingly didn't see any out at Lysterfield...
I hope to join in on some of the normdouglas skills rides too, thanks norm!
Cheers

Hi
I ride Lysterfield all the time, I live not far from there and am out there most weekends, just recently started riding the You Yangs so would not be a very good guide out there but know most of the tracks at Lysterfield
this is a link to the Geelong Mountain Bike Club for You Yangs map
http://gmbc.com.au/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=31
click on the Stockyards Brochure and that gives a great map to take with you out there.
You are most welcome to come riding with me, I usually go to Lysterfield with a male friend on Tuesday nights, if he doesn't come I still go on my own, also ride there most Thursday nights and weekends, send me an email and we can exchange numbers.
