Anyone planning on being at the next women’s weekend in Thredbo, 29 Feb – 2 Mar? I’m super keen to get back on the mountain but I haven’t been to one since the inaugural in ’04.
I have ridden the cannonball since, irregularly at best. Last time I was there in Nov – rather strange being the only girl on the mountain though so I am looking forward to meeting fellow female riders.
I I would love to chat with anyone who is going or even those who have been recently.

Hi, I haven't been to Thredbo, but my partner and I went to Mt Buller last weekend for the first time. There were two other chicks there as well, so I wasn't all alone, but yes, there weren't many. Good to see some others out there.
I didn't find out about the Women's Weekend until I read this post - so I won't be making it this year. Though next year I will defintely (hopefully) be there.
Are you going this year?

Hi ladies,
I have booked my partner in for that weekend - she actually asked me last night if I knew if any other women would be there.
She is an avid cyclist, and we did the Thredbo run in early Jan. She is really looking forward to it. Her confidence on the bike increased tenfold after last time (although she still likes to keep both wheels on the ground).
Monica will be happy to know there will be other girls there.
Regards
Scott

Scott, you can let Monica know that I too like to keep my wheels on the ground still. Though I am hoping to try for air this time round (ahhh, i think I'm scared already).

Hi Laura,
monica here. posting under scotty's name cause I am not as yet a 'farkin member'. looking forward to Thredbo, though the drive for us to get there is epic. The only thing I am not looking forward to it work on the Monday morning. After cannonball @ xmas to say I was a little 'stiff' after the experience would be an understatement. think someone will have to plonk me in a chair and wheel me about the place ( Davros style..you know from Dr Who..)!!
I am OK on steep stuff, have a big back end and I like to use it. but yes.. next time i do the cannonball I'd like to see if I can at least jump 1 / 3 of the bumps..that would be great!
would not consider myself to be particularly talented, but am looking forward to just getting out and about, meeting some new people and trying some new things.
see you there?

Monday's are never good let alone when you've just spent 2 days on the cannonball.............
looking forward to meeting you down there.
Still planning on going. I went to the one in January but I was the only one there, so I had private lessons for the whole weekend!
Just got back from Canada, so I'm really in two minds. Will see.

There will be 2 local girls there on the weekend, one for both days one on Sunday only. They both raced interschools last weekend.
I tried riding yesterday and my shoulder is still too bad to try riding downhill :(
Next year... (I've done 2 womens clinics before)

I haven't received anything either. I emailed RawNrg yesterday but I haven't heard anything yet. In the past it's started around noon on friday but I have no idea about this weekend. Let me know if anyone hears anything.
Hey Everyone,
I just spoke to Will at RawNrg and he filled me in on what's going on this weekend.
There won't be any riding tomorrow (Friday), however if you're in Thredbo, stop by the Servo and the guys will check out your bike to make sure everything is mechanically cool and tell you when to meet up on saturday.
Saturday and Sunday will consist of all the riding, the majority of it on the Canonball.
I'm heading to Thredbo from Wollongong tomorrow and I will likely arrive sometime in the afternoon. If there are any girls there and would like to catch up for a spin on the cross country track or a bit of fun on the 4X track, let me know. Send me a private message and I'll give you my mobile number.
Sarah :o

Well I'm back in Sydney and wow, what an excellent weekend.
Thanks go to Tracey Hannah & Dan Taliana of Raw NRG for such a thrilling experience.
Colin Battersby, Thank You. Please continue to hold these women's clinics - not only for the skills learnt, the social side too. Oh, and you cook a mean BBQ. (Thanks Will for the music).
Thanks also to the girls, Monica, Sarah, Shae, Christie, Teagan, & Siobhan – what great company you all were. I hope we can all ride together again soon.
On that note, best of luck to Christie, Teagan & Siobhan at next weeks Australian Interschools Championships. Given your performance over the weekend you will smoke the competition.
Now girls, just remember, elbows up, knees out & look.
Thanks again to all for a great weekend to remember.
I'm so with you Laura! Thanks to everyone and always to Rob for being such a great instructor.
If any of the girls from last week want to get in touch with me, just send me a private message or add me to facebook (look up Sarah MacMillan) and you should fine me!
Look forward to riding with everyone again!
