Hey all.
I recently acquired an old road frame that I intended fixing up as a hack around bike (purely cos my mtb is back in Tassie and I need a commuter). I have no idea what it is. The only discernable features of it are:

It has horizontal dropouts but was running a road bike drivetrain (old shimano sis etc. with 9 speed rear cassette, 52,46 front chainrings). I'm thinking it may have been a track bike at some stage and had the gears and drivetrain switched. Its also been repainted a dark blue which is showing under flaking paint, a light greeny white coloured paint.

The frame has extremely thin seat and chain stays.

It has 5 Swans on the head tube and a lot of intricate swirls round all joins on the frame.

It has Shimano Tourney road brakes, silver Suntour Edge Hubs laced to Araya 700C rims(anodised dark green)

It has some old Japanese road bars and some no name brake levers.

My boss at work(Georges Bike Shop, Canning Bridge) told me that the frame may be an old Swansea frame or something but I am not sure. He also said that it may have been a high end road frame in its day and that the more swans on the headtube, the higher spec it was. I have no idea but would like to know what it might be.

Any thoughts fellow Farkers?

Post up some photos, we might be able to help / guess.

The lads at fixed.org.au might know a thing or two as well.

I'll post some photos on Friday when i go back to the shop to work on it some more. I found a nasty surprise today...somebody a long time ago, has cut the steerer tube and welded it very badly back together(although it is straight and hasn't proven a worry before) i think it would be to shorten it...also the bearing cups have "24" and "Made In England" stamped round the rims of the headset cups. The headset is integrated which is odd for an older bike.
Anyway all that aside...shall post some pics on friday.
