Hi all i've just started dirt jumping and street and i wanna get a frame thats more suited to my riding. with a budget of 1k what are your suggestions in regards to which frames i should be looking at??
i preferrably want something which will allow me to fit in a 24"x3" tire in the rear.....steel or alu won't affect my decision as well.......
so far the only bikes i've come across are the
Planet X - Bommer
DMR - Trailstar LT
DMR - Rhythm (whats the difference between the trailstar and rhythm anyways?)
any comments and help will be great!!
cheers
Whyyy would you want a 3.0 tyre for jumping or street?
And the diff between the trailstar and the rhythm is that the rhythm is designed specifically for 24" wheels... and no it won't clear a 3.0
i'd say add the Planet X jack flash Classic if you can get one for under a 1k.

The DMR frames are mad
also look at the norco dj/urban frames on thier own you can get a mad frame for that money like the 5hun-Easton Rad Tubing
i'm guessing around $750

i vote for the bommer! It should clear a 3" if you really must slow yourself down that much
it does fit 24x3" check it out http://www.planet-x-bikes.com/catalogue/frames/frame_bommer.shtml

looks like i'm gonna be swaying more towards the bommer........i'm just worried about the 16.7" chainstay.........isn't that a bit long for street/dirt riding?
also aren't there any alu frames worth mentioning??
PX zebdi makes a mad little urban/trials frame, it's really short like 15.5 inch chainstays.

I've been doing a lil bit of homework and stumbled upon the On-One Gimp. Now I've just seen the On-One Gimp on their web site and i must say it looks exactly like the PX Bommer! Except with horizontal dropouts, larger tire clearance and slightly lighter!
From what I read on the web site, On-One has a pretty good rep with PX and so I've a feeling that PX might have borrowed some specs from On-One when they decided to make a steel jump/bsx bike.
Am now looking ard for a On-One dealer here in Melbourne. Anyone got the answer to that? Not very keen on purchasing online...
Hopefully I'll be all Gimped up by the end of winter! If not then it'll just have to be the bommer then....
Actually Roastin, I'd guess it's the other way around, PX have been in the hardcore hardtail business a lot longer than on-one. Dude, for a grand your going to be hard pressed to get anything but an awesome frame, I reccomend DMR personally, because I own a Trailstar and love it, but in that price range it's all going to be good :)

PX = On One
On One is actually a subsidiary or something of Planet-X I think, I know they're related anyway.

you could go for a liquid sub, or main frame there like $500, so you could have some money eft for cranks or sumthing

yea socket, you have 7 inches front AND rear! whats your excuse?
Mainly the fact that I stacked hardcore! (I was on my hardtail with a 4" fork for my 2nd run, as well as having minor injuries ;) )
