I`ve got a 13 or 14 year old Daccordi road bike which has chrome forks and chrome seat and chain stays. It`s a lovely looking bike and the manufacturing of the frame is high class, but it has a few rust spots on the chrome.
Any tips to get them off and to keep them off ?
Rust preventitive spray (inox or the like) and steel wool or a scourer pad. To retard future rust the only thing you can do is keep it clean.

Steel Wool, Brasso and a whole lot of elbow grease.

To remove rust from chrome scrub it off with a ball of aluminium (kitchen) foil - keep the surface wet with Coca-Cola whilst scrubbing. I was surprised by the results. For polishing use Autosol. It's magic. You should be able to find it at big hardware stores or automotive joints like Repco.
Be careful with steel wool on chrome. It's harder than Al foil and may scratch it. Just thinking out loud - I've never used steel wool on chrome.

Never heard of the alfoil / coke trick before.

You'll need sand paper of different grades- maybe 200, 300 500 800 1000. Start with the lower grade and get most of the rust off. Then move up the grades spending less time and less force on subsequent grades than you did on the previous grade. The 1000 grade should be around 30- 45 sec.
To buff it up, start again but wet the sand paper regularly with water. For a super smooth finish, use a higher grade of sand paper - the grit should be so fine that when you run your finger over the surface, it should feel very smooth. Also make sure you buy "wet and dry" sand paper.
