Hi guys,
I sent a request the other day about being ok'ed for the for sale section and was wondering how long does it normally take to be approved?
I'm interested in a bike on the forum?
Cheers

Give them time mate, they be busy people.

You could have a look at this thread (http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=76964&highlight=trading+access) too, not saying that you are going to be knocked back but it will give you an idea of how often they check the applications.

Also, you don't actually have to have trading access to buy items off here, you can contact sellers and negotiate to buy things if you want. Trading access is required for selling.

I am in the same boat, sent in group access message about a fortnight ago, don't know what the story is but I have seen a few bikes I would like to ask questions about. I guess the wisdom of dcrofty is right, "they be busy people":)

he is also right about the fact that you don't have to have access to buy things. you can send the seller private messages about the item. you need access to post threads and to reply to threads.

2 weeks is a while, give it a few more days and re-apply. if you did write a bad application try to write a bit of detail about why you want trading access. your first application might have been fine and they could be busy but incase it was rejected write another application in more detail. also get a few more posts to your name. that shows that you aren't just here to sell and item and piss off.

hope that helped

Left click their name in their Sig to the left. A menu comes up including "Send this fella a private message" ... do that!

Hi guys, im in the same boat as well.
Ive been looking for a bike for a few months now. Ive dont copious amounts of reasearch including this site....and really there is no need for me to post people and ask ideas.....as if you do the search....you can find previous posts and poeples ideas on tcertain thoings....and hence why i have no reason to block up this website as well as others. Its the reason i jhavent applied to get trading acces.....but now i know what i want. And i see a bike here on farkin.....and i cant acces it. I also see others are having perblems maybe they need to look at another way of doing things.....just my thoughts.

You can still PM people ... you don't have to post to buy their bike ...

Tip #1: Read the "How to Apply for Trading Access" page VERY carefully

Tip #2: Use spell check and get Grandma to check your grammar

G'day all,
This is really directed at the admin people so I don't expect replies to this question / statement. Yes I know I haven't been a regular thread contributor but up till now I'm more concerned about asking questions that will help me get good info. I'm not one to post just for the sake of it, as I believe if you don't have anything constructive to say then sit there and listen.
This I do.
I log on nearly every day to keep up to date with new postings and check to see if new bikes come onto the sales thread that may be of interest to me.
So, all this is leading to me asking again, how long before a new member can post on the "For Sale" forum? I've read the rules, and my only downfall as far as I can see is that I don't post often enough, Isn't it more preferable to the administrators to have people posting when they have something constructive to ask or say rather than just dribble to rack up some post numbers?
I'm confused!!!!!
I love the site, good threads, mainly sensible people (as far as MTB ikers can be) so why do number of threads be a guide to whether you can post and ask questions on "For sale".
p.s. I fairly sure my grammer is legible, so I hope that whoever is the grammer inspector gives me a pass mark.
Cheers

Hi, don't be confused.
First ... grammer is grammar.
Second, did you apply for trading access?
Have you read this thread (http://www.farkin.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76964) , as it may help.

The whole idea with the number of posts is too see that you are a productive and somewhat intelligent member of the forum.
Surely you have an opinion on something someone has said?

Apply for access in an intelligible manner and you will be fine.

Well spotted as far as the word "grammar" goes!

I understand your comment about "surely I have an opinion......", well yes I do. As I said yesterday I prefer to read, listen and learn from the more experienced thread contributors. Normally if I post it's to get information from these people. So I then gain a reasonable knowledge base before I would shoot my mouth off and offer advise to the next "newbie" that comes along.

I will try to contribute more often, but, I'm always reluctant to post if it's not going to be benificial to the thread, as I said in my last post, no one likes to read dribble just for the sake of it.

And yes, I did apply for access quite a while back, that is the reason for my post yesterday, I'm trying to chase it up, I just wanted to know if I've contravened any rules I wasn't aware of.

Be patient Grasshopper when you can snatch the pebble from my hand without me knowing then you will be ready...... Or a bit over 2 weeks:cool:

And don't contact the Mods it just gives them more to do and less time to approve requests..... And pisses them off as they get a lot of requests some good some well........................

We can be a bit anally retentive around here ... I enjoy the fact that people can spell and structure intelligible arguments.

Some of the mods are quite strict in regards to a minimum number of posts.
I have seen someone write unless there were 10 they would delete the application immediately.

The easiest way to know if you have been knocked back is by trying to apply again.
If an application is pending then it hasn't been looked at and you will not be able to reapply.
Remember these guys have lives too!

I'm only new and was only a member of Farkin for a few days and picked up a bargin from the trading area (06STP1 only a few scratches on the bars) (I currently don't have Trading access and I don't see the need to unless I want to sell something because I can still PM the seller of the item and ask for more details if required instead of posting in the thread).

If for some reason I need to sell something I will apply for trading access but until then I don't see the point and like you I only contribute when I feel I need to (not to get my post count up).

You don't need trading access to buy, just send the seller a private message ;)

An Avatar picture and a full about me section may also help
There are other ways than commenting to show you try:)
