as many of u might know my bike was stollen about 6 weeks ago, but i managed to get it back, with help from farkin members.
well the thief would have seen me riding it around again and has tried to steal it again. today our shed was broken into and like $1000 of my shit stolen. my bike isnt kept in the shed so it wasnt stolen. but all points to they were trying to steal my bike.
as per usual the police are going to do fuck all.
i went to the closest bike shop, because im pretty sure the thief has been looking at prices n shit there. probly going in regularly, cos he lives real close, but not really buying anything.
i went to just inform this dude of my situation, id been there before about my bike being stolen. i knew chances are he couldnt do shit to even work out who it was. an i didnt expoect him to start hasling customers or do anything, casting a big thing of simpathy on me.
but the bloke (owner im pretty sure) starts saying this shit to me that even if he knew someone was a thief he'ld take their money.
i said if they had stolen his bike and were a well known thief would he take their money (ie serve them). he said yes hed take their money, look around at this shop (like he has to make living from serving thieves).
the conversation ended with me just walking out pissed.
of all the bike shops i went to about my bike being stolen, ive had a large variety of replies. ie very supportive to what can i do?
but this was pretty rotten shit to say Bike Force South Perth. Its stirred up all this hate in me again, im not happy.
some people have no moralls
they get baaaad karma

mate thats shocking that the bike shop would do something like that. U should write a letter to the shop explaning to them that they have just lost all of you and your friends business. If it was the owner who said that then he shouldn't be owning a bike shop, or even working for one as a matter of fact. IMO

im not going to write a letter to them and im not going to shop there again.
apparently the people there are usually good, but what he said to me was seriously wrong.
i'll leave it up to everyone to decide for themselves where they want to shop but suggest Hiways, its in close proximity. otherwise pop in at mine and ill drive u to hiways.

Aww man, that's shit news to hear Matt. What the hell did they take from your shed anyways? It amounts to quite abit, but i hope it was nothing that important.
I'd like to see thieves try to get into my shed... I've only got erm.. a lawnmower and bricks.
What's worse is the shit you got from that shop. Simple, just take your money elsewhere, no matter how small.
Hmm... ya better lock ya bike up even in the house man. Sounds like he's out to get ya Kona.

i work in a shop and we had a bike stolen. it was sold to a local cashconverters. the only reason we got it back was because the person that had bought it from cashies came in to have a tube fitted. not cool. the cashies didnt realise it was stolen cause the copper who filed the report put the serial no in the wrong place and it didnt come up on the computer.
we had a customer get a bike stolen 2 days after he bought and the thief bought it in for a tube. when he came back for it the cops were there 2. the guy who lost the bike was pretty grateful

I'll certainly keep this story in mind, next time I'm shopping around for bike paraphenalia! That's terrible indeedy
I may have missed something here, but...........
How does the shop owner know who broke in and stole your stuff?
How does the shop owner discriminate between theives and regular people?
I sell stuff to lots and lots of people.....and I certainly can't tell which ones are theives and which ones aren't. They all just look like people.
Do you expect each sale to begin with the shop owner asking "Where were you on the night of the 23rd?"
I don't understand why you are ragging on a shop which basically was honest with you. Seems to me you just didn't want to hear the truth. I can guarantee you he doesn't want to help out thugs, he just doesn't know who they are. To him anyone in baggy shorts is probably considered a dodgy character.
Take the emaotion out of it and stand back and look at the bigger picture. And yes, I've had a bike stolen and I was pissed about it too.

i didnt expect him to identify thieves or interigate customers for obvious reasons.
theres no harm in making him aware of my situation so that IF something clicks that its a particular customer he can do something to help me.

yes i went in emotional and probably with the wrong mindset,
yes at first he was making the point about not knowing who is and isn't a thief hence taking everyones money but it went beyond that. i asked him numerous different questions about him taking money from thieves to which his answers were disturbing. he basicly said he didnt care if they were thieves as long as he was getting the money for his shop.
i did not hold myself too well, but coming from the shop owner?/worker it was the wrong thing to say.[/quote]
Hmmm sounds like he was either playing with you or......he's a dick!
Bottom line is ......I hope you get your gear back. If you don't get it back don't buy the new stuff from him, and let him know why!

edit:sorry im stupid
thanks for comment dhd
yes I agree boycott the place
I live in Melbourne but I swear I'm not going to shop there. Everyone has to eat but everyone also needs morals. If everyone thought like that guy society would suck. Come to think of it I'd avoid him just for the bad vibes

Yo Matt!!
As a Bike Force employee i'm suprised to hear of your experience. Do you know if it definately was Gary(the owner of the store)? They run a really good shop and i'd be worried if he intentionally tried to make you uncomfortable about shopping at the store. If i was a shop owner i'd be a little bit cautious about the situation purely because if he helps you bust this dickhead then he'd be leaving himself vulnerable to reprisals from this scumbag and his mates. I mean, somebody who breaks into peoples houses and cars to steal is basically capable of anything. If this guy gets busted then what is stopping him from driving down canning h/way and lobbing a brick through those expensive-ass glass windows at the front of the store? His insurance bills go up and the cost of running the business goes up. This is just one little scenario.
I'm not making light of your situation. I really feel for you, i had two bikes stolen two years ago and i even found out where one of them was but i didn't bother getting it (i had insurance) because i was concerned that any punk who breaks into my house is capable of coming back and smashing it up. I know you're emotional about the whole situation. It sucks. The guys at BF South Perth are a good shop but only if you're into high end road bikes (but they do carry a pretty decent range of mtb clothing and parts).
Hope this message finds you in a better mood. At least you still have your bike! Least you aint stuck in the country with no bike (and no hills) like me. Go have a ride for me!

Actually its not, but it cant be used in court as evidence unless you have a warrant granting it, which must be obtained before hand.

sorry to interfere.its not a matter of whether he can differ between thieves or regular customers.its a matter of how u treat ur customers.sometimes, providing even that bit of information does help alot.i have heard of a case in singapore which a mountain cycle slix went missing and almost all the bike shops here help keep a lookout and one day they finally recover back the bike because of some riders and bikeshops help.bike force shouldve just tell the lad that they will do their best and inform him if they encounter anything suspicious or anything.at least it will make him feel better.not just brushing him off like this.seriously i did went to bike force south perth b4.they dint give me a very good impression.over priced stuffs.un-friendly staffs.stuck up their nose on u till they see that impressive bike of urs.so whats more to say?

Bike Force South Perth is mainly a triathlon store in a pretty affluent suburb. why would a kona hardtail be considered 'impressive'? They've got the whole Trek road range as well as Klein and Lemond. They're a good shop but they dont really cater to hardcore mtb'ers. Sure, dumb01 had a bum run with the shop but i think it should be classified as a one off.
