G'day mate, Are you after hardtail, dually or short travel dually or what? If you were after a hardtail you would have a broad range to choose from for 3,000. Probably do a search though because this type of thread has been covered so many times.

You will be able to pick up a decent dually for around 3000. If you dont know what you want to get into prehaps get an all-mountain setup. That way you can do some DH, XC and try jumping.

Go to the Trading Area, I just bought a Giant Dh Comp for 1100 including a mad specialized deviant FF helmet! You'll be sure to get a gnarly bike with that cash. Personally id rather not buy a ALL MOUNTAIN bike and just get a different bike for each disipline.

At Yarra Valley Cycles in Melbourne there is a Norco atomik for $2299. Seems like a pretty good deal. Or a kona stinky i think are under $3000
