Hi, I've just moved to Melbourne and was wondering if anyone is keen to fill me in on any good trails in the area? I ride a kona hardtail and don't mind a little d/h xc action... I've found some single trails around yarra bend park (which are pretty much all flat:rolleyes:) and heard there are some good trails at the you-yangs, and ferntree gully... If anyone has any tips I'll keep em to myself. Cheers

Yarra Bend will take you virtually all the way back to Westerfolds Park and through the flats along there. Just follow the Main Yarra Trail signs and you will see singletrack entrances all along the side there.
If your prepared to travel a bit, Olinda (otherside of Mt Dandynong) has a great deal of intertwining tracks, Lysterfield also (which is essentially a dedicated MTB park) or you could alternativly drive out to Mt Macedon and Woodend and ride though the state park down there. Tons of options! I believe there is a 'Guide to Off Road Trails around Melbourne' handbook out...enquire about it at your LBS.
Good luck!

yarrabend is good if you go fast, bt you need the fitness to keep up speed...
once you go slow its shit..
but in realitiy you can ride for 40+kms from richmond to .. warradytne on Single track the whole way... if you knwo where to go

yarra bend is definetly fine for xc. head right up the top of the hill after the pipe bridge at the boat house. look along the side of the boulevard. you will see a bunch of paths leading down the side. these are a bit more down hill. how ever they are realy just steep xc tracks. if your looking for something chalenging head out to the you yangs. it is around a half hour drive from the wetsern suburbs. hit up geelong mountain bike clubs website for details on how to get there. but basicaly you head down the princes highway and turn off at little river road.
