Ok so the next mtf is here, sorry it's late but better late than never. Now daever hasn't got alot of posts, or has he been around for the longest, but he has sure made a positive impact on the farkin community in the short amount of time he's been here. Nowmay I introduce daever.

1/ Who are you?

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i281/Bl0r/9d561048cfd7f0d8e7280e2c02859cd7.jpg

Dave, 24 years old. I have a twin brother who is a somewhat cloned, outdated prototype of me (he won't admit it though).
I'm 6"3 weight about 94kg.
Eye colour: Brown
Current undergarments: Grey and red breifs. Reasonably clean.
Current haircut: Messy
Current Socks: Grey black and white pinstripe slazenger low socks with about 4 holes in total.
Current pets: 0 (Deaths: natural causes...)
Desk colour and finish: Light pine.
Number of items built from IKEA: 17 (level 17 Ikeamancer)
Calculator type: CASIO CFX9850GB plus.
Other Hair style: Brazillian max

2/ What influenced you to become a member of farkin.net?

Well honestly I'm not sure. I haven't been here that long, I don't remember how I found out about it. I think I just googled it... I can't really think of a specific influence like a freind or somthing. I just Needed a good resource for info, riders, tracks, gear, fun, drama. Substances may also of attributed to this.

3/ Which genre of mountain biking do you enjoy the most?

Downhill! maybe some XC, but not recently - it's all been downhill for me... My hardtail gets pillaged for parts whenever stuff breaks on my DH bike so its easy to tell where my allegiance lies.

4/ Where do you live and how is the riding scene?

Redland bay. Riding scene? Heh. Theres only a few XC trails around the place, theres really not much landscape to work off for the stuff I like to ride. Mount Cotton is the closest thing to a hill and theres really nothing on it DH wise. Theres lots of xc type trails at the scout place but it's really only accessible when there are no scouts around--That reminds me, I have to collect my clown suit from the dry cleaners.
As for the rest of QLD, it's pretty gosh darn good.

5/ What bike/s do you ride?

06 v10 and an 07 manik

6/ How would you describe your riding style?

Painful. It depends, sometimes I have good runs, other times not so good. I'll have days when all I seem to be doing is missing lines and comming off the bike. Lately its been good. I'd say I'm a pretty clean rider, I try to keep it simple and not lose alot of speed. I've never broken anything in any of the sports I do/did. I'm kind of dissapointed about this... But! I do drink a good amount of milk, so it's understandable.

7/ Whats the highest speed you've gotten to, in any vehicle you have piloted, and what vehicle did you do it in?

Id rather not comment on that to protect the innocent... It's really nothing super fast, or anything a modest amount of other people havn't already done. Speeding is bad, but I admit I do it from time to time. When ever I speed (in my cars atleast) its always calculated. Considering the cars I usually get cursed with, I have to calculate the probability of many important parts working themselves off while I speed... Like the wheels for instance... Also you have to consider it takes a huge amount of concerntration to keep these cars in a straight line in the first place just going the speed limit, so its quite a rush getting them to push the 10-over mark. I consider myself lucky though not to have had any major accidents or anything like that, usually everyone has an accident story. Not me.

8/ The worst decision you ever made?

I have never made a descision that Impacted a huge part of my life (like jail or somthing). Generally I think things through alot before I commit to somthing. This goes for riding too. However, my bad decision's you could just classify as little stupid things I've done. One of these incidents occured when I was jet-skiing some time last year...
I was out somewhere between broadwater and jacob's well cruizing along - minding my own business, water conditions were good, however, I couldn't see very well because my glasses were fogged up.
Anyway I was going fine and decided to pin it. I started etching up the tacho with the engine blaring on full throttle - everything going sweet. After a short while I glanced ahead and noticed the water wasn't as flat as I would like it to be anymore... I was on full throttle (which is about 100km/h) and I was about 10 meters from a wall of massive boat wake. Now, this isn't some pissy little wake you see from most boats, Broadwater can get some massively rich boats crusing through that have a mini tsunami following them everywhere they go. After the first hit the ski was out of the water angled percariously sideways and i was a few too many feet above the ski to qualify even as a passenger...
well during this moment, my thoughts were as follows:
- F**k, this is going to hurt.
- F**k, babes might see this, I'm gonna have to make it look cool somehow.
- F**k, what's for dinner tonight.
I managed to 'gracefully' clear myself of the ski, but not much of the speed I had gathered up. I hit the water hard and skimmed for a good 50m and went under... So there I was 1 meter under dark water, staring up at the beams of light slapping me across the face, feeling pretty stupid. I wanted to stay down there to subvert the enevitable humiliation, but my life jacket had other plans. I breach the surface and have a look around...The ski was floating about 60m away. Glasses were about 5m back. My ass cheek was sore from the landing... Took me a little while to get everything together... Good times.

9/ What is the most ironic thing you’ve ever heard?

Today I was having a discussion about the American economy and It came up in conversation, that if their dollar and their economy continues to decline, Nike could open up some sweatshops there. That would be Ironic.

10/ Where is your favorite place to ride?the DH tracks in south east QLD.

But I'll go anywhere really, even if it's not that DH orientated, I'm not too picky - always happy to be riding.

11/ What was your best experience relating to alcohol.

One time, while on a trip up the coast me and a friend went around to real estate agents and pretended to be uber euro DJ's looking for expensive holiday pads... We could both speak German and had the accent down very well. We had them going for ages calling us by our foreign DJ names and trying to sell us apartments (ze party pads) and such. We got brocures, cards, meetings and such. You could see their fangs slide out of their mouths when we said the price wasn't too much of an issue. The whole time was an effort to blow the other persons cover by doing somthing really funny or insinuating they were gay. Was very entertaining!

12/ What was your worst experience relating to alcohol?

Worst? Umm. Too many to be specific. I don't really drink much anymore.
maybe sprinting into a power pole at full speed cause I thought it would be funny. It wasn't funny.

13/ Tell us a joke

Better yet, I will let Master Pain tell you a joke. See bottom of the thread ;)

14/ What was the single best riding experience you have had?

I guess when I first learn't to ride. You can't beat that feeling. Next up there would be nailing a jump that I had been traumatized by.

15/ Do you believe in god?

Well, yes and no. I'd naturally be leaning towards no, but I think the more you look into science on lots of levels, the more intricate and infinitely complex things really do become. So to answer the question, I beleive theres more to life/reality than whats apparent. But... that doesn't neccesarily mean theres a god... So its most likey or 'logically' a no on whether there is a god. I always think, well, It all started at a single point, right? a singularity which 'maybe' contained a heap of energy. Or maybe no energy? (ooooo!) Anyway, this point exploaded (big bang) and spewed out particles. What kind of particles? who fekkin knows? Probably the lowest denominator or the base constituent of what everything is comprised of I would assume. Anyway, these particles formed bigger particles, then bigger particles, so on until they formed what we know as sub atomic particles (electrons, protons, neutrons) These then formed atoms, which contain charateristics that make them interact with other atoms in strange ways. These then form molecules. Thus, so far at this point we have raw material, clumps of dirt and metal and gas and liquid. After all these clumps got bigger and formed stars/planets/black holes/rosie o'donnell, also given a few million years, somewhere along this timeline a very complex peice of matter was created and was able to self replicate. This is what you could call the first form of biological life. Then it went from there to single cell organsism, multi-cell, the bam, you have us.
For me, the only parts where a "god" could come into play in any of this, is at the stages which are unexplainable through science or are just simply intangible. This means two parts. First, the big bang. What caused it? Why did it happen? Why is there anything in the first place? Secondly, the progression from simple matter and molecules to somthing that self replicates. By virtue a self-replicating 'thing' must be replicated from an ancestor so there had to have allways been somthing. Especially since the complexity between a peice of matter you can call biological compared to mineral is a hugely disproportionate and it just doesn't make sense for there to be a progressive transition from one to the other.

16/ Please draw your depiction of god using ms paint or equally crappy software.

17/ Is there anywhere in the world you would like to visit to ride your mountain bike?

Naturally whistler, I've lived and worked there for the ski season before. I'd go back there first. I'd live there for a year or two at least this time if i could - do both, the summer and winter seasons. It's got a good atmosphere, pretty much 24/7 party all year round and some of the best terrain for mtb'ing and snowboarding.

18/ Do you have any other hobbies apart from mountain biking?

Snowboarding is definentally up there. I don't get to do it as often as I like though. Jetskiing is heaps of fun too. Technology, science, art are also somthing you could call my hobby.
When I think about it now, I blow any money I make on fun things... Isn't the smartest thing but, what the hell, you only live once?

19/ What is your favourite tv show?

All the good adult cartoons like southpark, futurama, family guy, american dad, drawn together.

20/ What is your occupation

I'm an undergrad mechanical engineering student. I've been working long stretches out in mines and shitholes around the place, so thats cut my uni up a fair bit. I'm in my 5th year of this degree at the moment, so its a little painful to still be at it (not much longer though). I'm still getting use to the moving around and living in said shitholes. I do alot of drafting and run/create databases and stuff out there at the moment. It's damn boring for the most part. It will get better when I start getting into more of the engineering field.

21/ Do you think you could beat Sam Hill at chess?

I used to be one of those chess nerds at school without the acne and retainer, so i think i could beat him.

No offence but I thought the whole point of meet the farkers was to show the more well known members of this site. Its a good interview but I just think more known members should be interviews.

I know what you're getting at, this is just to mix things up abit. Don't worry it will go back to meet the postwhore next week. I chose to interview daever as he has made some rather brilliant and humerous posts in his short time here. It also proves that you don't have to have a million posts to be a respected contributing member of this site.

Agree with this and several others of a similar sentiment. Don't need to be a post whore or a 2003 member to be a worth while MTF.

Good choice Chris ... buck the e-popularity shite

BTW ... are you going thru some Irony crisis ??

Sour grapes much? ;)

If you look back through the archives of MTF, I think you'll find that daever's a lot more known than some of the previous interviewees (unless you spent all your time on the Yup Boys thread). There have been many who haven't been heard from in years or only really used to hang around the more specialist threads or in the case of Glen Jacobs, weren't even a regular farker to begin with.

I mean what are we going to do, interview Johnny, Scott or Ryan again?

Top interview lads!
