$200 for a seal? damn, if you're really unhappy with the Psylo's, sure get the Marz. I would, I really don't like how psylo's feel. Other people like em, so whatever floats your boat...

if your paying $200 to fix psylos seals your going to the wrong shop, seals should be 35-50 or cheaper if you go to a industral hydro seal shop.

yeah man thats a way over priced amt for seals I agree with Ty on the prices. I just ordered some 4 my XC's (originals) & it cost me $50. And u can do it yourself. Bushings may be a bit harder. This could be the reason 4 perfor8or's mate blowing 3 seals in 3mths. The top bushing is more likely 2 get worn on psylo's cause it is so close to the seal, that if any dirt makes it past the XXX seals & in to the top bushing it will cause more than the norm amt of oil to pass through the bushing & hence start pissing out of the top of the seal. This is the reason why you should change the oil and clean ya psylo's out regulary.

If ya clean the stanchions aand the seals after every ride the seals should last a fair while. I reckon the psylo's are awesome. Good ride and easy to service.

yeh the seal cost about that, but if you cant do it your self -like me- then you have to pay for that and for some more oil n sh#t like that

peachy

I've been running the psylos XC's and I love them.... although if you are buying them new you will need to get stiffer springs. Don't let them fool you if you're feelign them new, they come very soft and overly plush.
Why don't you check out the Shermans.... very nice!!!

firstly the forks arent new the reason why they blew is coz they had a heavier wieght oil in them, and secondly i have 200 for new cranks-lx :)- so i wont have much money for a while

Man, you seriously don't have to pay your shop to replace your Psylo seals, it takes an allen key , a shifter, a screwdriver, 5 minutes and the primitive tool using skills of a chimpanzee to do it yourself.
Seriously, hit up the Rockshox website and grab the service manual, hit up your local Autobarn/Supercheap Auto/Motorbike shop and grab some 10 wt fork oil and D.I.Y, not only will you learn to replace your own seals, but you'll learn how to service a Psylo yourself and save a bundle in the long run.

Yeah Ryan, the Psylos could not be simpler to work on and replace seals.
Good suspension oil will be less than $15 and will last for 2-3 services and the seals cost me $19. Just had to cut the foam ring in half to fit between the new seal and the old grey seal.
My shop charges about $60 for this service.
Bombers blow seals as well, so I would fix your XC's if the bushes are still okay.
Can buy and send you the seals if you can't get them locally.
Heavier oil will not blow seals, but too muck oil can.

well if any one near asburton , melbourne has some spare time to show me how to do it then they can, also can you replace the bushings your self?

the bushings are a different story, i got my hands on a offical rockshock bushing remover the other day, it's a great tool but it stuffs up the orignal bushing when you take it out (we were trying to take the bushings out of one fork and stick them in another) shouldn't of been much of a suprise really.

Call Derek at Hallite seals at Sumner Park in Brisbane for advice. Make sure you get Derek as he is in the know and rides as well.
Last time I spoke with him he was hoping to get a machine in that could turn out seals of any kind, all he would need are the old ones or tech off of the net.

I dont know sheet about Seals or removing anything .. I suck at Bike Maintenance but i have my own Mechanic cause im factory yo. haha

But .....

I would not compare Psylo XC's with Dj3's.

Psylo XC's ..
Alot Lighter ... More Responsive travel .. mainly due to it being designed for XC .. trail riding etc ..

The DJ .. is a nice fork no doubt.
but a lot heavier .. and i have never personally ridden one .. but reports on mtbreview etc .. Say the fork does what it is designed for .. being Dirt Jumps .. and when your dirtjumping .. you want stiffer travel but you want the fork to work on your landing etc ... The reports also said the DJ3 wasnt the most reponsive fork for trail riding .. it worked great on Big Bumps or hits ( Dirt Jumping ) but didnt eat up the small bumps like a responsive trail riding fork ( Pyslo XC )

Although i dont base everything i do on Reports on websites or whatever ... but Both forks are kinda used for different things .. So make sure you know your priorities and youll be right.

Now .. ill let everyone get back to the bushing's and Baby Seels.

Thanks for that Ty. I just looked them up in the phone book and ordered some. Should fix my problem of oil pissin out of the top of the seal. Cheaper than new original dust seals as well :D
