According to the buzz over on the American and Canadian forums, big drop meister Josh Bender has left his previous sponsor Karpiel and will now be riding bikes produced by the Canadian company. Banshee.

Famous for his big drops on bikes with big travel (12 inch front and 14 inch rear last time I checked), Bender will now be riding a Scream with significantly less travel, and likely a pair of Marzocchi Monster Triples up front.

Having flirted briefly with Konas at the Red Bull Freeride in Australia earlier this year, he actually approached Banshee and asked for a bike. Perhaps this new partnership will cause big developments over at Banshee HQ, more travel and strength incorporated into the Scream perhaps. Bender will certainly push the bike to its very limits. For more details on the Banshee check out this month's mag for a look at the Scream.

So I'm told, I don't know what the actual stroke of the shock is though... I'll try find out.

Edit: just checked the online manual on the Banshee website, and they mention the fitting of two different shocks, one with a 2" stroke ( ) and one with a 2.25" stroke... in the 8" travel position (assuming you need the 2.25" stroke shock to obtain the full 8 inches), it has a 3.5:1 ratio... however if it can get 8" with the 2" stroke, that's a full 4:1 ratio

WTF, thats a 6inch travel drop, they're gonna need to develop something new for him if he's gonna continue with his big dropping...

Aside from the fact that 12 - 8 = 4 (not 6), it's not unlikely that he will have a customised Scream with more travel anyway...

I think that Banshee bike is going to be one funny looking bike when it gets made.
