Well, it's that time of year again. The racing season is coming to an end and '05 gear is starting to show up in random places. Today we are lucky enough to have a very good look at what looks like a very strong product range from Iron Horse. The press release includes many photos.
Check it out here ('/page.php?p=3ec4f1').

Wish they'd kept the Team DH black :( Awesome idea to spec the Sunday WC with clips AND flats to suit everyone. Gotta love Monster Green too...
Nothing on the Yakuza range yet?
Anybody know when are the '05 bikes going to be available?

Arrrh that green is not for me. Lucky I can't afford a WC.

You'll start to like it, i bet!
Any one know if they are doing frame only's? And if so, a random price?

Rather interesting from a engineering point of view. It's interesting to see alot of manufacturers coming back to the simplicity of triangulation. The rear swingarm is just a big triangle that's free to move with a linkage system. The 7point and DH series frames are also pretty sweet. Sometimes you just can't beat what they've all known for years ... triangles. haha.
They look good ...

i'd totally buy a US sunday frame if it was a decent price...

Romour is $2400US for frame kit which when you minus the cost of all the extra's thrown in teh kit, it is about the same as a turner or other highend frame.

Umm... dude... these guys are selling incredibly well designed and specced bikes, at very reasonable prices. They'll blow the competition away for 2005.
The USA made frameset is expensive as it's meant to compete with boutique frames from other companies, to give IH a better name in the elitist American market. It's not an indication of the entire ranges pricing.

I like the way Iron Horse is falling together. Good team, good bikes :D

The Porter Pro is $2500, but unlike any other complete hardtail I've ever seen for sale, it has a spec that doesn't require you to change ANYTHING. They don't cut corners - you even get decent bars and stuff, instead of the generic crap that comes on every other brand. The duallies are even better specced, for example the SGS Team:
Boxxer Teams
FSA Headset (instead of the generic crap you normally get)
V-drive cranks (instead of the Pussefelts that every other company seems to love speccing)
WTB wheels (instead of generic (or worse, Shimano) hubs on Alex rims)
Easton EA50 bars (again instead of generic crap)
SIC stem (once again, no generic crap here)
WTB seat (do I need to say "generic" again?)
Thomson seatpost (does it get any better?)
E13 chainguide (instead of the dodgy POS ones that come on Giants etc)
FSA chainring (need I even keep pointing out that this is yet another high-quality part)
Sram X9 stuff (notably a high-end shifter)
Hayes brakes (no biggie there)
For fuck's sake, you even get Minion Slow Reezay tyres! Nobody else bothers speccing decent tyres (that I've seen anyway), most of the time you end up with 3-year-old-stock High Roller 60a's, or Kenda Craptaculations or something.
They even give you high quality gear cable (teflon-coated) and outer! Who the hell else does that?!
That's for $6000rrp. Find me ANY other bike for $6k that matches each and every one of those parts. I've had my bike for ~8 months, and I've changed three things: the grips (I prefer lock-ons to the bmx ones on there, but some people don't), the front tyre (to a 2.7 Minion Slow Reezay instead of a 2.5), and the derailleur (cos I broke the x9 that was on there). The next thing I intend to change is, um... oh wait. Nothing needs it!
Edit: Oh and it just so happens that the frame itself rides incredibly well - it's stiff, responsive, great geometry, pedals pretty well, etc. That alone is uncommon for complete bikes retailing for ~$6k.

They look very nice. That green is good.
What is the Hollow Point Travel though? And how good an all rounder would the 7.7 be you reckon?
Socket, have you had an 05 model for that long? Or do you talk of the 04?

Hey guys - this press release appears now on Pinkbike.
And I quote: "How cool are the guys at Iron Horse? Cool enough to give Pinkbike "exclusive" first peek at the 2005 Iron Horse high end lineup! "
How did it possibly appear on Farkin first, when apparently Pinkbike got "exclusive" first peek? Oh, Pinkbike, not quite there.
Scott

the press release was actually mailed to 4 different websites. Pinkbike and farkin being two of them. So not quite exclusively.....

it couldnt of been on farkin first as the one on pinkbike was osted on the 29th, and on farkin it was posted 30th. so in a way it was exclusive for pink bike for a whole day

Oh well, I saw it here on Farkin yesterday, and Pinkbike this morning, and as Scott confirms, it was hardly "exclusive".
What I'm getting at is them claiming first dibs, when it's not really true.
Socket, have you had an 05 model for that long? Or do you talk of the 04?
Nah, I've had an 05 model since the start of 04... ;)

mmm I think I will take 2 please! Sunday WC and MK3 Expert. 2 bikes that you can do everything on! :D I'm suprised there is no dedicated 4x bike though, unless the mk3's are strong enough for serious racing now?

remember that Farkin is Aussie and Pinkbike is Canadian so it could easily have been posted at around the same time... remember time difference fellas...
as Scott said

no it wasn't exclusive but Pinkbike and a two others probably had it at about the same time...
only small difference would be who actually posted the info from the email on the site first...

A Hollowpoint MTX does exist (there's a couple floating round on Hcor.net and RM), but they're out already (have been for a couple of months) in the US... maybe they've decided not to put them in the "new products" catalogue or something because of that.
Turley
01-09-2004, 05:32 PM
Yeah s. I know they got the MTX with the old hollowpoint design, I was just suprised they didnt' release a new one with the rest of the FS range. I'm sure DW will have something along those lines in the works though :P

Well the MTX is a totally different bike to the original Hollowpoints (insanely huge down tube etc), and it was kinda an 04.5 bike, so I'd say they'll just chuck it in with the 05 lineup. Tis strange though.

Personally, I'd be saving for a sunday team rather than a 7point7. If you're going to spend that much money you might as well go a full DH bike.

on the topic of the green WC, according to the Australia rep, it's only being used as a custom colour for Sam Hill to ride for world championships. If this is the case, then it's seems odd to use it in the press release tho. Either way, the Australian distributor is only bringing the World Cup in the yellow (not blue or black). This will stand for both the complete bikes and the US made frame kits.
The US frames are lighter and stronger due to higher quality materials so there is some incentive over the complete bike but looking at prices I it'll still be better to buy complete and sell off what you don't need. The AU prices were unconfirmed last time I checked but are looking like being 'very' competitive with any of the well known, decent US made stuff.

Yeh I hear you, but you know if I wanted a DH bike I would get a Yeti 8)
Hmmm, I dunno, I miss just going out for a fang around, runs are definently the funnest, but with the 4X track, and Jubilee (especially the 30acres at the base) A good all round bike would be good? It would also be cheaper to buy a complete desired spec bike instead of componants for the frame building thing. Yeh, perhaps 2 seperate bikes is the go. I could use the spec from my raceline for a nice muck around bike with a new frame and forks. Then get a sweet DH rig. Anyway, enough about me... I reckon that green is nice, hope Hutchy is wrong...

The complete World Cup bike is 'Monster' green. Everyone who has seen the bikes here in Europe has been blown away. The color looks even hotter in person than online. The Sunday Factory is the USA made kit. Iron Horse Aust will be bringing in yellow kits for stock. If you urgently want a black or blue frame they can be ordered but you have to act quick!

Anyone know what the Sunday bikes and frames weigh?
For all of these hanging out for the green Sunday WC, it was origianally a one off for Sam Hill. All the Sunday WCs coming into Australia are odered in the same yellow as last year (but they may still end up green).

Wrong and Wrong!!
See my post above!
The Sunday WC bike is Monster green. The Sunday Factory (USA Made frame kits) are Blue, Black, and Yellow (all are VW colors). The Aussie distributor is bringing in yellow frames. Like I said before, if you want blue or black then call up the distributor and let him know asap so you can get one!

the green is certainly an 'eye catcher' rather than 'eye candy'. the whole ironhorse range is sic this year. those FR models look sweet. not bad prices either. got the missus one to get her into MTB. she rates it!
