yeh, they stopped holding races due to insurence or something. but if you contacted the owners of the property they might let you up otherwise you could go to some other tracks nearby like, hurstbridge, dandinong, granton well it depends where you live.

I think the last trials round was held there in conjuction with the motorbike trials, and I think GMBC was still using it for XC....so I don't think it's an insurance thing.

After the last race there, I heard that the owner was going to build on the area of the property that the DH course was on, hence no more DH.

It was either that or it's the fact that GMBC just doesn't have anyone to run DH races since Murray (Richardson??) and his family chose to take a backseat in the whole MTB scene. But he can't be blamed, he practically single handedly ran GMBC events for years, particulary DH.

Generally, everything you do is 'at your own risk', but even if you were to make every rider sign a 40 page waiver at the start of every run, there is still room for a judge to base a ruling on negligence.

A big part of the problem is that old fogie judges and juries don't understand what the sport is all about, and all it takes is for some smooth talking lawyer to convince them it was the land owners fault.

We need to move to a system like New Zealand, where if you hurt yourself, you get a fixed judjement, none of this multi-million dollar payout crap.

Yer but who cares. if i opened up a park or something i would get people to sighn something saying that if you stack it's your own fult and people would sighn because they want to ride.

Yer but who cares.

That's just the problem, by saying 'who cares', you show negligence on the part of what the law calls 'Duty of Care'. Like I said, the most comprehensive waiver doesn't admonish Duty of Care.
