Just read in another post that 4X tracks need to move away from being big BMX tracks to something more moutain bike oriented. I would tend to agree with this, as it just seems to be BMXers winning 4X.

In ppl's opinion, what elements need to be carried over from BMX tracks, and what MTB specific stuff could be added? (This may potentially lead into a nationals track design in the future).

Ok, well, the stuff that has carried over now (everything) all has a part in 4x imho but, it shouldn't be the entire track as it is now. Few ideas that i have are.

Get a few say, 1-2 foot drops. down to a decent tranny but just bringing a litte new stuff to the coarse.

Idea of a corner which is built like a set of steps with each step being a different width. Bit hard to explain but something like a fan which is sloped downwards. But instead of haveing even distanced between each leg of the fan, have them to they vary the whole way down so each new line you take has a different feel to it. Perhaps even use a few trees so there is even more randomness in the shape of the turn

Idea of (i think it was) oppy's was to have an obstical like a log that all competitors must bunny hop over.

Rockgardens (must be flowy and not super techie as must be able to be taken on any line) and perhaps even a water obstical where applable.

BMX components will always exist as they should in 4x but, we need to expand on the base which it has provided. Think stutters on the face or downramps of jumps. Think creative and think natural.
