Great review, I've been wondering how good these pedals are for awhile.. Actually after reading the review then seeing the score I was a little surprised they only scored 6.5? How many cheap platform pedals out there look as sweet as these aswell as being light and great in the mud? I'll grab a set when my V8's wear out soon.

yeah i thought 6.5 was fair ..... maybe a little harsh .. but farkin is always modest.

I thought i gave the pedals a good amount of praise .. yet It's always good to try them out before you lay your hard earned cash down.

They Still remain on my STP and they are still hanging foul.

personally i think they are very grippy and a great pedal ... just didnt think they will appeal to everyone.

some people think you need that extra grip from the side .. the bits missing to make the pedals look like X's.

But yeah dude .. they are solid so check em out.

ive got a set of these pedals that i have and swap between my bmx dirtjumper and my bmx race bike.

ive never actually sliped off them. ive landed with my feet on less than half of the pedal and still been able to ride away sweet.

also the thing i like bout them is they dont chip up and all that on the sides wen u put them down on concrete.

after these pedals im never buying painted pedals again

go the everlasting colur!!

Good reveiw DOM.

Are you sure that these are the company's attempt at these pedals though?
I own the same pedal just badged as Azonic and I was pretty sure they just scabbed the pedal off of them and re-badged it like they do with their frames?

I found that they weren't so great on my hardtail so I whacked them on my DH bike and they feel much more at home now..

correct me if im wrong ... but I think youll find that Azonic get the frames from Xtension .. and they badge them ..

so youll find it the same with the Pedals ... Xtension produce them and Azonic purchase in bulk and re-badge them ?

thats the way I thought it worked.

The Xtension website talk as if they designed them.

That's fair enough, just checking.

I thought it may have worked the same way that the frames work..

Aren't Azonic and Xtension related companys?? They're frames are basically the same.
They both just seem to buy those mass produced catalogue frames that are marketed under 5 different company names..

I think Xtension makes both the frames AND pedals and Azonic rebadges them for sale, "beno" on the forums is our friendly local Xtension importer so I'm sure he can clear it up.

Taken from Xtension Website Xtension began designing bikes in the late 90s ... they took some existing technology and combined it with their engineering expertise to create three distinctly different frames, the XPlore, the XPilot and the Xtreme.

They Also Designed the Pedals .. they sell Xtension Saddles aswell .. but they clearly say on the website these are designed for them by SDG.

Dom and Ryan are correct. Xtension designed the frames, pedals, and stems that Azonic have in their 05 line up.

For the non believers, every Azonic frame carries the Xtension logo on the toptube. If Azonic Designed the frames why would they put the logo of another company on their bike frames?

I have spoken to the actual frame designer in person and swapped ideas and opinions about the frames and pedals (watch out for a oz inspired revised version of the x-pedal due sometime towards the end of the year- it pays to give feedback on your products sometimes!)

Brad Kelly was running these pedals for quite sometime on his DH rig (he may still be running them for all I know). About 100 pairs have so far been sold throughout Australia, and not one has been returned or warrantied or even any parts replaced in that time, so they are proving to be extremely durable, touch wood!

the Saddles are indeed designed by SDG and again they are being run by Brad Kelly, Ricky Boyer, Robbie McNaughton amongst others.

If you want anymore info about any of the Xtension gear, sling me a pm or check out our site below.

P.S. should have a bike for the farkin guys to review soon.

Dom and Ryan are correct. Xtension designed the frames, pedals, and stems that Azonic have in their 05 line up.

The stems?

I always thought the Shorty and such were all Azonic designed and built. They've been around for a few years now.

DOM

Nah hes not talking about the Shorty's they are Azonic's most famous part !!

These Stems are made by Xtension and badged by Azonic

Xtension FRS-1 Stem ------- Equalizer DH ( Azonic )

not sure about their other Grinder XC stem by Azonic .. looks similar to the Xtension XC stem .. but not %100 sure .. but the Aboves stems look exact.

You'll notice that I said 05 line up. Azonic have, in the past, had original designs for their stems bars etc. But much of their 05 product is from Xtension.

The Azonic Eliminator DH frame which is the same as Mongoose, Muddy Fox, Coyote, Felt, Club Roost, and many, many others (its the slut of the DH frame world!!!) IS NOT THE SAME AS THE XTENSION DH FRAME. Though it is made in the same factory in Taiwan.

Did you ever clip any rocks with the pedals?

I was wondering how they went on impact becuase of there funky shape?

· Sealed bearing / DU bush bearing means adjustment-free silky smooth operation.

So thats 1 sealed bearing and a bushing?

As stated in the review ... I didnt clip anything .. their funky shape reduces clipping in my opinion.

the sealed Bearing / DU was taken from Xtension website I havent been inside the pedals in that regard

Beno might know more.

Belted heaps of rocks, trees, gutters, cars (do!h), shins, calf muscles etc and haven't done any damage other than cosmetic yet (same can't be said for the things you hit! ouch) Very tough set of pedals.
