Yeah, come on everyone, no excuses. uni has finished and school may as well have and as far as your employers are concerned you're sick.
There hasn't been a decent turn for an urban ride for quite a while so even if you have to borrow a bike, get out there.

okay I'll be quiet now....

15-11-2004, 11:20 PM
do you guys stair gap jacobs ladder or just ride down it? the best i've managed is to stair gap to stair gap the last 4 sets (if that makes sence)

ps. oh yeah i'll probably be chillin' at the paddo skate park if you guys head up that way.

tu plang
15-11-2004, 11:24 PM
nah not gapping, just somewhat of a launch off each set landing on the same set... though this gets hairy once u get any speed as you tend to over shoot... and go headfirst into the wall next to them... oh god its all flooding back... :(

TREK24
15-11-2004, 11:40 PM
I find I can hit them quite confidently at pretty much any speed, but they get very scary when the wheels start lifting off, 'specially when you have to pull up for the road at the bottom. and yeah the picket fence at the side is not particularly inviting :?

17-11-2004, 08:45 PM
central station would be your best bet, just a stone throw away. i cant really remember the best way to get to city hall from central as i dont spend much time around there but someone will be able to help you out.

as for me... my rear hub is on its last legs so the next week or two could be interesting :? .

yeah, i had a good one on Jacobs one night ride a few holidays ago now.

though the time that my mates forks blew going down was a few weeks before-hand when i first met you... i made it down in one piece that time :) .

... and to think i got all pissed off when i found out i was working sunday morning instead of my usual sunday arvo/evening shift, it was a blessing in disguise  . if your going to be around about 3ish we should organise a place to meet.

cheers,
ben

edit: oh and it should be noted that my stack didnt go down as the best of the night... the bottom of the duckpond will remember who had the best one  .

18-11-2004, 01:18 PM
The paddo skate park is pretty close and a good size, not sure about any others. Not to mention a nice steep stair gap nearby that I'd love to see someone do.

Hey i'm just about to buy a stinky this weekend. what gear do you guys wear when you ride? full face helmets, guards ?

thanks

TREK24
25-11-2004, 02:54 PM
gloves are good as sweaty palms hold onto grips with as much tenacity as your nana without her false teeth. Shinnies are pretty mandatory unless you like minced legs. some guys ride with elbow guards too, but I'm yet to see anyone in full body armour. If you're going biggish (especially urban) or just like your face to stay the way it is, a full face is a good idea and its cheaper than the surgery bill :D

Quintin
25-11-2004, 03:00 PM
sweet thanks.

do many of the guys who do these urbans wear Full helmets ? would you say half and half or only a couple

tu plang
25-11-2004, 03:32 PM
last time i went i think there might have been 1 person of about 15-20. unless you are planning on hitting the stair gaps the rest of the stuff probably doesnt warrant a full face.

Come on guys we would love to beat the 60......This I wanna see... someone get pics!
We've had that amount on a few Sydney rides, let's see if the other capitals can match it.

timmo
25-11-2004, 06:12 PM
Yep, will do. Got the digicam with me, so I'll try and snap a few without being left completely behind.

Last year's pre-Christmas ride had about that (i'm guessing that's the 55 that needs beating) and was awesome - some stupid snappage, some scared security guards and in general a whole lotta fun.

25-11-2004, 06:29 PM
