Hey all, today i thought i would build some little shore about a foot off the ground, just a fun technichle thing that involves endows turnes and riding along thin bits of wood. Anyway i finished it the sarvo and after a while of doing it i slipped off and landed on my front disk and bent the fu#k out of it. You dont know what it looks like but i cant wheel my front wheel. its under my amp now to try and press it back, will i need a new one or can i just keep pressing it back to straight???

ps. Anyone that would happen to have an 8inch disk 4sale give me a message thanks.

nope, it's farked.
time for a new one.
it's almost impossible to straighten discs. if they warp you can sometimes sort of straighten them by shimming them out with washers, but if it's bent, toss it.

if it's not super bad, you can bend it back. just do it slowly using your hands or a wrench, etc

easy to do and well worth trying before you fork out for a new rotor

What about heating it up, I got no idea about discs but i thought I read that somwhere. It'd probably make it worse though.

hmmm, looking at my first post here i should explain a bit.
you can straighten them sort of.
but it will always be warped, and will always drag.
unless you are running a floating disc setup, you won't be able to get a really good feel back.
if you are short of money, try straightening it till you can afford a replacement, but you will be better off with a new one.

you should be able to get it straight enough to ride on for now but it will drag.

dhdirect have hayes compatible rotors for like $45 but they are outta stock according to the website! better then paying about $90 for genuine hayes one!!! Im waiting for then to got some more!

If the rotor has a sharp crease in it it's knackered. If it's warped then you can try to straighten it with a shifter. You can't really make it any worse so you might as well try and fix it.

Unless you're good mates with your mech, I don't like the chances of them trying to repair something that is badly bent (which he said it was). It creates too many issues.

Hey all you people that thought i ciuldn't bend it back, i did. i sat it under my amp for a night and then took it out and that did a bit then i sat there with a malet banging it back into place and then put it in the vice. when i put it back on it still rubbed but not where as much as it use to, but still pretty bad. i took it to my grandpars today and hopfully he can bend it back and even if it aint perfect i will just ride down a hil with my brackes rubbing and if i am very lucky it might work and i wont need to buy a new one.

if your still at school take it to the metalwork room and put it on that magnetic thing - turn it on and then try and get it perfectly straight with a mallet or something ????????????????

That might work................................

Hmmm... hitting close-grained, already-thin metal disc with mallet... that's GOTTA be good for it's structural integrity.

Hey grip, dont knock it, maybe he likes shards of metal in his arse.

i put my discs between 2 pieces of wood and leave them in a vice for 24 hours ... almost as straight as new
