View Full Version : DJ handlebars: Your bar of choice?
I've been forum surfing other MTB sites and am wondering what goes into choosing a dirt jumping/FR type handlebar. I like the looks of the Axiom supercross bars (Norco) and the .243's (http://www.243racing.com/bar_stem.html) but probably aren't suitable for a Rigid one (http://www.cambriabike.com/new_bikes/images/khs_ds-500_rigid-one_bike_0.jpg). Some have commented that such bars are too "high" and prefer non crossbar handlebars. (Protapers, Crowbars etc)
What is the optimal type bar for you? How much does frame geometry play into this?
Is it possible to buy the Norco (Axiom) supercross bars separately?
i love my answer pro tapers for everything.

I like a relatively low rise bar, no more than 2 inches for me. I used to run super wide ones but my current bars are a bit narrower and I think I prefer them like that for general playing, they don't get in the way as much.

i love my axiom risers, i think ter a 1.5 or 2 inch rise, but there awesome or dj, all my mates hate them because after the bend there flat and almost sweep down, but yeah, i love them because for some freaky reason the feel like the bars on my bmx bikes and stuff, so i like them coz te steering is similar. i like them so much in fear of not being able 2 get them i bought a few pairs and have squirriled them away
but have tried pro tapers azonics and funn dj bars, but felt 2 wide and yuk.
cheers!

Axiom risers?

Or these?

The Axiom (http://www.norco.com/axiom/handlebars.htm) risers look to have the same height as the Supercross bars. The stem on the 125 looks hella beefy as well. Might be a nice combo. Where did you buy the Axiom's

I was reading a thread on Pinkbike where some guys have cut down bar widths. Always an option I suppose.

hmm..multiple choice, ill take option number 1, my original ones came on my 2001 125, but at my work we had changed over some bars on different bikes, and we had 1 or 2 lying around so called 'shotgun' on them and yeah my boss let me have em!

I prefer less than 2 inch rise in my bars. Ridden a few 2inch and over rise bars and they just realy don't jell wiht me. ATM I am using some titec hellbent handle bars but have plans in the future to upgrade to some Easton EA70's. I would go for the answer pro tapers but "apparently" the new ones have a more sweep which is the reason I am giong for hte ea70's.

oh wait you meant handle bar... the one that came on my bike... 1.5"^ 25ish wide b-b-black.....
Mmm, raw cromo goodness. I liked it so much I saved the pic and uploaded it to my album. OG source: Pinkbike. They appear beefy and solid but I have read that a couple of riders have snapped them. Nothing is indestructable or at least nothing affordable.

Is it possible to buy just the bars (Axiom shovel's) by themselves?
243s are so hot right now
Very. All that sort of gear gets alot of forum time on Pinkbike. I think those guys have a bike fetish.

I've got some 2" rise Azonic World Force bars. They're probably a bit wide for bar-spins and heel-clickers but that's not really a problem for me at this stage
