That's a pretty cool bike for doing everything and anything, shame it's a Giant :P (sorry, I'm a bit discriminatory). You've got good spec on it, can't go wrong there, so happy trails to ya.

Nice Tash, but am I the only one that can't see the rear rotor?

To top it off it looks like the right hand mech lever is leeding to the apparent hydro on the front wheel??? I am confused and way too perseptive!

Front brake on the right or left is personal preference. Either way that's an awesome bike for a 1st duallie. Happy trails :)

actualy the pic is wrong, there is no rear disk or caliper in the photo only an adaptor, there is also no cables or front mech, the front brake in that pic is a hayes cable too. i though more people would of picked that up sooner.

just got the extra light psylo springs this morning and the bashguard off lupine128 so that completed the build and this arfternoons ride was really fun i wish i could of had a ride of the thing but i'm scared of blowing something up due to the extra light spring setup front and rear.
almost makes me want to build up a dullie for my self.

(on a side note, ippy is looking good for state championships boys and girls)

Brakes: Hayes Cable rear, Armor Hydro front

Make sure the bolts on those Armors are kept tight at all times. If they come lose, the caliper body and/or the adaptor snap clean in two! Just had a lil kid who weighs about 50kg snap one today. That's the 2nd i've seen in such a short period. Just a warning. Maybe put some locktite or gasket goo on the bolts so they don't come lose.

The bike is fully built up and been broken in with a ride at Ippy. Twice actuallly, Sat and Sun!
I'm so happy with it, I can finally hold onto the bars and the brakes at the same time without my head boucing all over the place.

So a new pic is in order with everything in its place.

Hope everyone else's weekend ride was as awesome as mine was!

Have a Great Week!

Hmmm, interesting. I had the same thing happen to my Hayes cables, although I'm not certain if it was the bolts loosening off. Thankfully the Dirt Works guys were nice enough to warranty it for me.

I bought the frame and rear shock second hand, and then built up the bike with either parts from my old hardtail/first bike, built up 2nd hand forks and bought new things like disk brakes.

I must admit Ty did a bit of encouraging when i first started, otherwise i wouldnt be where i am now, actually being able to ride down a hill. lots of patience and teaching of skills before pushing me down the hill. hehe joking.

now i just love getting on the bike and away from work!!! and spending quality time with ty, of course.
New photo coming soon

Just gotta get the gf a good bike, easy tracks to ride on and lots of encouragment!!

It's a horrible thing to do, but they really appreciate it if you let them use your bike instead. Sure you have to put up with a shitter for a bit, but this gives you a reason to buy a 2nd good bike! muhuhahaha

hey tasha, what tracks did Ty take you down when u first started riding?

Ty
11-08-2003, 09:01 PM
magic, pony express and dirt girls at first then i introduced tasha to rodgers 1,2,3, letter box and lantana at gap creek before heading over to the other side of the mountain and the world of shuttles with deanos and bardons stairs (gordon street).

man thats mad. i haven't heard of any of those trails, what kind of trails are they?
good work getting a girl in mtb ty

My first dh (now xc) was Rodgers 1 on the back side of cootha. Ty couldn't understand why i was so afriad of riding down a 45% angle hill and riding over logs and such, to him it was 2nd nature, luckily i had built up some skills and managed not to fall off.
the 2nd outing fell to pieces though, when i got too big for my boots and rode down a fairly technical down hill bit and fell off and grazed my knee. i think i remember saying something to the effect of, i dont want to do this anymore :) haha - lucky girls dig scars ;P

the trails ty mentioned are what you would call cross country, but to a beginner they are downhill enough. they are good starting and learning tracks, as from these, i have progressed to deanos, bardons stairs, and blackstone in about a year and a half of starting to ride.

thats kewl. i think everyone tries cross country before getting into downhill... its like Cross country --> freeride --> RACING.. have you started racing yet tash?
oh yeh, what bike did you start on?

Tasha

nope haven't started racing yet. Still getting used to the new bike, and still on a learning curve i suppose.
I think i might start in the next local club race, start off little, and maybe then get bigger.

My first bike was a 2nd hand 98 or so Shogun Trailbreaker 3. But by the time Ty and I had finished with it, the only original parts left was the frame, everything else we got out of the spares section at home, or bought new. Was a good project, as well as a cheap way of transport and fitness!

I am absolutely loving this bike though.

Duncan - I actually find this seat better than my last one which was full of padding and wide. I can now get off the back of my bike when riding down steep bits, which is always helpful, and of course, suits the colour scheme :) actually, this happened quite by chance.
