View Full Version : Freakin X-ups...
I was trying to get x-ups fully round tonight... they're pricks. I can get em about 3/4 the way round each way, but one way the tyre hits my foot (the way I can do em easier), and the other way I have trouble turning the bars that far (don't know why, but turning one way my arms will happily do it, but not the other) aaand my handlebar hits the inside of my opposite leg.

cross-up's are so hot right now! x-up's are sooo done....
xups are only half dood. whats this 3/4 business
and try cutting ur bars down??
kinda had the same issue learning bar spins last week, i run full width pro tapers and found that i have to lean way back and clamp the seat with my thighs (like you do for a no hander) so the bar could clear my legs.
i also discovered that my foot would contact the front wheel when trying them out on the street on ryans DMR trailstar (trailstars seem to have almost a roadie like toe overlap)

I've got a Trailstar too, I think the steep head angle and fairly forward-placed BB make for a lot of toe smacking goodness (my tyre can actually hit my pedal!). I sorta hafta re-learn to jump too, I haven't done it in ages.
Fuzzy: I mean 3/4 of the way to half! As in, halfway in between 90 and 180 degrees...
3/4 of the way right round, now that would be impressive!
ahhhh orite sorry didnt understand that.. lol barspins and truckdrivers are sick. Cowan in NWD3
Oh well, on the upside, I learnt how to whip much more smoothly, like Hugh (Peters on this board).
stylish non limb tricks rock
ahaha yeah they do, my limb tricks consist of one-handers on either side, and dangerously poor one-footers.
Tomorrow I will conquer x-ups (ODT).
Yeah, I get exactly the same problem on my Trailstar Socket, I ride left foot forward and turn the bars anti-clockwise when I x-up.
I just turn until I make contact and hold it there, still looks plenty stylish in my book as the bars are turned like 170 degrees by the time I make contact.

I have a skidmark on my boot from my tyre! I'm gonna hafta get used to going the wrong way and leaning back, or going the right way and rotating my cranks.

I also have a trailstar, but my foot only hits the tyre if i have my forks on the shorter travel settings(psylo's) when i do use this setting not much i can tell u that, the tyre hits my pedal and i carnt turn it fully round, but i like the shortness of the DMR makes it easy to flick around :)

check out si doing x ups plus another 90 deg. www.sitrials.co.uk ;)
get a 24 for the front? no more foot rub then

24" wheels + trailstar = gayness
I used to have 24s, they sucked big time on that frame. And besides, the foot overlap is gigantic - not 1", more like 3".
hmm true
you should have a sidekick then ;)
Those were actually my old wheels (on andrew's sidekick). They were heavy, the back rim sucked, and IMO they don't suit DMR frames at all (no offence andrew!).
socket, i can x-up 180 degrees both ways and my tire actualy touchs the pedal at some points, you just got to move your feet/cranks around abit to find a point where you can spin it.

Yeah, but I'm reeeaaaally flat-footed on the pedals, and I'm not comfortable with moving 1026506916591 things at once just yet ;)

Find a hip, learn to take your foot off, and do 1 footed x-ups. They feel so rad. Or just learn to drop a crank arm in mid air.
