actualy i'm sitting here reading comics, but i'm thinking of looking for the plans any minute now.....

i want it so i can launch huge gaps.
i saw someone who had made a metal one on here and wondering if i can have those plans?

Cheers for that this is what im looking for :D then busting out big gaps and making my own dimensions on it
thanks for that again and now what about weather proofing??
does anyone know about this? or should i make it out of metal or something?

make it outta steel, paint it, and send me photo's of you bustin a hernia trying to move the bastard afterward.
if you use timber, seal and paint it.
ahh but what if i put wheels on it?
 im a genius :D

now i'm waiting for your genius to put wheels on the bottom so it is easy to move.
first gap... the ramp prceeds you into the gap by .5 secs. ramp wins.
wheels with locks ;)
1.Unlock wheels
2.Roll ramp to desired area
3.Lock wheels
4. Hit Ramp
5. Make 60 foot
6. Make it into NWD 5
7. Be the best rider in the world
i have that bit planned out

well, you could always put some retractable coasters on one end, so you could wheel it into the right spot and pop them up out of the way.
or, you could put wheels on the side! omg genius!
peachy

OR OR OR you could tie a rope to it, tie it to your back and pull it where u want
lol im not an egyptian building pyramids peachy

I built that ramp that has been posted and it is 3m long, 1.5m high. When you are bending the metal bend it to about 6 to 8 metre radius. My ramp is fairly flat at the bottom and then it gets steep in the second half. If you have any more questions give us a yell. Just give it a go and built it to look right. Thats all we did. :D
seems reasonable.
i want it so i can do huge gaps over stuff so id have to have a fair bit of air aswell is 1.5 high enough?

1.5m is high enough for me. It chucks you about 2-2.5m up and it would be good for big gaps. I have only jumped about 15ft off it but that is becuase I don't have much run up. I think it would still be nice to jump 25-30ft or more is you can find the speed.

You could jack up the front if you want to go higher. More speed=more height
now there's an idea, put the high end on a carjack or something and have it pivoting at the other end, variable hight!!! I'll let you figure out how to do it though...

We actually thought about doing that but it would take a lot more effort. If you keep the bottom fairly flat then just chuck wood or dirt under the front and it will work nicely.

don't forget if you want distance, you want to come off it at as close to 45* as you can.
if it's throwig you vert, it's going to be funny as hell watching you get 60' of air to do 15' gap :D

I was going to build a ramp not long back, what would be great about steel would be the fact that you could leave the trailing edge on the steel ramp and it would be smooth as to ride onto. Also if you had the wheels on the back face of the ramp you could lift it up and then move it. I have seen bmx guys doing it for dirt jumping, great idea because when you get better you could increace the size of your gap. Also if you were worried about it moving you could put little bit of plate steel on the bottom and drill a hole at each back corner, then simply hammer big pegs into the dirt. Has anyone actually seen ramps in videos, i saw a short segment out of a torque video and they were busting 20 foot 6 foot step ups off a ramp no more than 1 metre high. a 1.5 ramp i reckon is getting a bit big, but there is nothing wrong with that.

i didn't read all the other posts, but mybmx.com has some links to some pretty crazy ramps.....(i think thats the site anyway).....

i got like 8 feet high and 15 foot long on my ramp. on a huffy.
my ramp is pretty much the same design as above. it is 1 m high and 2m long. it is made of plywood and pine. it has 11 slats i think and 7mm 3ply.
it is very strong although if i put the ramps high end on something higher a bmx cant hit it because it will get a hole because of the wheel angles.

Just thinking about some random projectile motion angle things that might be of interest, as said, 45 deg gives the maximum range for a given initial speed or same thing the other way, the smallest initial speed for a given range. And there are always 2 two possible angles that add to 90deg that result in the same launched distance with a given initial speed, so a low one and a high one, and both will approach max range the closer they get to 45.

thats a kicker but usually they are a bit smaller

i like my 1m high kicker but i would like to step it up towards 1.5m high. i would like something like 3.5m long by 1.5m high. you could launch huge of a kicker that big and it would cost a bakery of dough to make.
wow i could allmost be in torque since i cleared 15ft by 6ft high of a ramp no bigger than 1m high.

im making a steel kicker ramp for my yr 12 assignment.. its gonna be 1400mm high, and 2400mm long, and its a 2 piece construction. so i can take it in half and use the smaller section for street gaps and stuff, then chuck it back together with the bigger section for bigger stuff and more sorta DJ jumps..
kewel huh!
and if i see anyone with a ramp like this after this post, ill burn your house down...

and mugger, is that an '04 norco 4hun in your avatar?
look at some moto magazines or a crusty video make it out of steel and make it so you can wind up the height like on lawnmowers with the mower deck just more so you so have to jump over a house just dont do what this guy i used to knows brother did and broke his ankle on his moto jumping a house :( ramps are heaps nice got any plans for where you are going to put it?
