so jay are you going to write up a new proposal and appeal the decision?

peachy
10-08-2003, 07:00 PM
i guess the council does have a right to knock them down if they are overly dangerous, i doubt concil people wanna be liable if someone brakes their neck. think about it: some kid does a huge jump, stacks the landing and brakes his neck and become a vegetable. the kids parents will get pissed off cuz their kid is now a carrot, and they WILL blame the council because it is 'their' jumps. SUE SUE SUE... i dunno its just my opinion

what difference does it make if you do a poll anyway?

of course i would not like windsor to get knocked down, but still want some newby jumps

Ty

no use polling it on the internet, it you really cared you'd be talking face to face with the people who make these decisions.

ive been there, seen ppl jumpin' and i think if your gonna atempt one make sure you can do it first. i cant jump them yet but they look just a tad unsafe to me... but for all the windor lovers, the council should leave them there :)

i reckon if the council is gunna knock it down they should supply a crap load of dirt and fill the gaps in the doubles and make 'em table tops!!!

Ty
11-08-2003, 09:22 AM
Jay, go tell them that, how are they ment to know that you guys would still be happy if they were tabletops and that it would be much safer? communication is the key here, you seem quite happy to bag out the council from the saftey of your desktop but if you really want your jumps saved go and see the council yourself in person.

yeh jay u comming on tuesday...come as soon as u can if u are.\
they should just dump rubbish or some shit in the gaps and cover it with crappy dirt.
except if they do that, john said hed rather take the dirt from the middle and build more jumps.
its not really the gaps that make them dangerous...nobody falls into the gap and hurts themselves..its when people fall on the shitty surface and dodgy landings.

So... you're gonna protest AT the jumps?

Ty
12-08-2003, 04:31 PM
good to see that my experience and suggestions on how to interact with councils was totally lost on you, say good bye to your jumps because a bunch of kids on push bikes isn’t going to stop the council from clearing land that they appear to own, at best your trespassing.

ok, seeing as you don;t get it let me lay it out for you:
1) get a group together
2) do NOT make posters and signs
3) go TO the council
4) speak to them in a civilized manner about the jumps incuding points on why the jumps should be kept
5_ listen to what they have to say
6) continue talks until agreement is reached.

that's simo's "how to talk to your council in 3 seconds lesson" now give me my 30 bucks!

well were not sure what the doing,
in the mean time there gonna come around and pull all the tires out that have been used in the jumps. ie ones that are sticking out.
they grabbed all of out email adresses and there gonna contact us...theres gonna be a meeting where we are gonna sit down with them and decide what we are going to do. we have to cater for good riders and also little kids who ride in circles.
from the sounds of it, they are going to come in and clean up the track, change some of the jumps, move some of the jumps, get rid of some of the jumps and fill in some of the....jumps.

we have to bring in photos and drawings and stuff of what we want to do with the track.

there not gonna build a worldclass bmx track or anything but there contacting bmx track builders and stuff so maybe theyll make us a nice track. they also want to build it to regulations because they are liable for injuries and stuff.
cheers

Well it sounds like its all happening then. As much as I like Windsor and can appreciate the amount of work put in I think it needs some smaller jumps as currently theres not much for the new guys or the old crap guys like myself. Im a local and havent been down there in ages mainly because a lot of the jumps are simply beyond me, im out of practise and starting from scratch on big jumps can be pretty intimidating. As long as you guys continue in the level headed manner you have been it looks like everyone might get what they're after, the only suggestion I could make is perhaps some better dirt rather than the pretty harsh stuff thats currently there, of course that boils down to money and how much the councils prepared to spend. Are the meetings always going to be around 5 o'clock? If so can we be given a fair amount of warning so more of us could potentially make it along, its a bit hard to get to a meeting at 5 when I dont finish work till 6.30 in port melbourne. The idea of a new track designed by proffesionals sounds ok to me.

they arent all that big from the pics i see in your sig, our local council trails have been built up bigger than that and we havent had any problems

infact they brought us more dirt to expand when we asked if they would :)
