how long in metres tho, i use to have a trail with a couple of 20 metre elevated sections (three) but then they tore it down.
that would piss me off so much.
all the effort into building that trackm buying/stealing the wood and wire. all the shovel, work time put into it and 2 minutes with a dozer and its allll gone  [/rant]
All the illegal construction on government property, oh no!
(just remember, there is always the litigation aspect, I'd rather a single NS section be torn down than have a blanket ban on MTB'ing in National Parks)

i no wat it feels like to have something that uve been workin on for ages to be gone the next day wen u go to try it...............but the true northshor way is to build it biger and better and taller and harder for the ranger or council to pull down!!!!!!!!

Last time I saw it, (which was quite a long time ago) it was in very bad condition unrideable.

Seaforth is pretty much all knocked done... no rangers though, I think it was just that no-one was keeping it maintained anymore. With a bit of work over summer though I reckon we could have it back up and running pretty nice. I know quite a few guys who would be willing to get down there and build it up!!! There is still a nice little burm section down there... good for practice!!!

Maybe we should start a new thread and get up some interest in rebuilding Seaforth???? I think it is pretty safe from the council down there!!! the only problem is bored wankers with no hobbies expect fucking up other peoples shit!!! Similarly to everywhere else.

Seaforth is trashed , but remaining dirtjumps etc look good .
Watch your line in the transiton 1 to 2 though , a bit too close together, for me anyways.
As I weigh over 90kg anything I ride thats being built had better be strong. This was my excuse for not riding seaforth , that and i didn't find it till it was all busted up , and quietly I'm not that good a rider (ssshhh)

Yeah we went to ride the trail one day and i came down a roll down and then u turn right to go over a bridge over an empty rocky creek bed and the bridge wasnt there and my mates were following me down the trail. it was kinda funny at the time.

Well we did some more work on "commitment" today at the mtb park. The elevated section of various width is 32m and counting!!! :D

i would rather see some innovative flowin trails than some kooky north shore shitttt, i mean , i like riding it a lot , tho only when it is really well integrateddd to ttthe terrain, itf ya catch my drigft, the drunken drift that is.... spend the time mak9in a trail flow rather than some rikkety wood thing..

Just a little correction, true north shore was born out of necessity - the fact that it rains so frickin much in Vancouver they started building elevated trails to prevent erosion and to be able to let certain areas dryout.
The whole notion of building stunts so big that rangers or coucil can't pull'em down should be behind us by now. :)

But it was by constantly rebuildin them that the Canadians managed 2 convince the council (or wateva) 2 let them keep them.
at my local we built about 11 m of bridges, and they are solid! talking about liability it would be more dangerouse without them (jst ignore the wire holing them in place though, kinda like a giant cheese cutter if you fall of) oh gregg if you read this could you post a pic of them?

that's true, but the driving force behind the whole thing was to procide less environmental impact, and the fact that riders were showing intiative by maintaining the safety of the stunts through Trail Maintenance Days.

MTB park in Brisvegas will have the longest run soon, We have already built 20+ meteres with a see-saw in the guts, just waiting for some timber donations from the local building supplies and we shall continue building.
The plan is to have almost 90% elevation to the bottom of the hill, which means over 100 meters of elevation. :D :D :D
Guys I live in seaforth, just down the street from the old north shore. The stuff got old and rickity and no one rebuilt it becuase no-one wanted to ride it there, all the locals (us) found another secret location. The jump's there are ok but as you said they are tricky and take ages to get used to.
If anybody wants to organise a day to work there PM me or buzz me on 0412 32 42 50.
The drop there is still ok. The land there is actually owned by the RTA , the rest of the previously empty now being built on land around there was also RTA when they were going to build the sugarloaf bridge around the spit. The land is now being sold off as the RTA has decided not to build the bridge. RTA has applied to sell the land on wich this north shore was built on (along with jumps berms and drop). The RTA has been told they have to give a large proportion of the land to DUAP. (the amount wich i dont know). Lets hope the jumps are on that stuff so they dont get built on.

I agree, NS stunts should be there to make the trail work better, not just "because you can".

Am I the only one who finds the idea of "north" shore stunts on Phillip Island amusing?

we have a shore bridge on a track that is composed of many bridges now joined. its pretty much thrown together with wire and nails, but alot of it is 4-5 inch wide, some wider bits up to 7foot high. currently about 30m long until we join the end bit on which will make it about 60m.
with ppl tearing ur shit down..
if u dont want ppl to find it, build it somewhere secret and dont tell anyone..
