Just wondering what people have heard about there stiffness? I am looking for something that is adjustable from 80-100mm which is the reason I am looking for an alternative to a marz z.2 or z.4. The fork would be used for trials/Urban and DS/4X races. If you have any other fork sujestions please let me know but I am looking for something that i can get for cheap (ie about $500 brand new or 2nd hand) and below 4pound(1.8kg) if possible.
As for strength and stiffness, CK uses blacks for MTNX, that should be enough said, but i've personaly seen black cop some massive hits, stair gaps, and setup in 80 mm mode they rock for dirt jumping.
You could probably pick up last years dirt jumpers pretty cheap if you find a shop that was trying to get rid of them, and there are always people selling them second hand.
Look around for a pair of 2002 or 2003 Psylo Tullio 20mm front axle, go from 80 to 125mm travel, really stiff in the shorter travel range. I have found them a lot stiffer than the 02 & 03 Blacks I have tried. They aren't as much to service or keep running smoothly either.

From the photos I've seen from the Sea Otter, a lot of pros are running the Blacks. That's a decent endorsement if you as me...
But yeah... priority should be on getting a 20mm axle if stiffness is paramount.

I'd run Supermonsters for Sea Otter if I was getting paid to do it too...
you'd you run what you thought would give you the highest possible chance of winning? like the pros riding M1s in 98/99 with different stickers and paint? (as if you couldn't tell it was an M1)

cool
Ive owned Black Elites before and i found that they were very stiff actually. They felt alright (Nothing compared to my Shiver SC's or 2000 Z1 Drop-Offs) and had 90mm travel or 120mm. They felt retarded in 90mm travel like shermans etc.
BUT, Id take Fox Forx over them anyday. Arguable the best feeling forks on the market, but are also pretty bloody stiff for a QR fork. Highly recommended.
