You know the other gap, on the corner of the wharf that this one was off... it had a wooden bench in front of the gap? I was talking to a mate today who reckons he's seen a BMX'er gap it, bench and all. Crazy stuff!

y does ever1 get hyped up over drops to flat...if u land them smooth there no different to tranny drops....do ppl complain when trials riders drop to flat

Rik

It's just riders with no style that reckon drops to flat are evil.

naz
17-09-2003, 09:41 AM
hehe tru...thats wot im goin for now fuk goin big..just get style down perfectly on wot i can do now and then get bigger with style!
landing to flat is not bad thats y im riding trials to know how to drop properly and land better !!

drops to flat arent rough once you get good at em i can do six feets to flat on bmx pretty smoothly all u gotto do is put the bak tire down way before the front and absorb it

When I drop to flat static, I do it trials style without a problem.
I've found when I drop to flat at high speed, I also do it as if I'm static, I have the bike almost vertical through the air, land rear wheel first, then dab the brake to bring the front down. Whereas I see alot of people only drop the rear slightly lower than the front on landing, my rear is heaps lower than the front. I was practising this off some 5ft staircases the other day, and it's very smooth at high speed.

Does anyone else do this, or isn't it reccomended :?:

i agree wit rik.....
when u drop to flat at speed more of the downward force is dispursed coz ur goin fast....
and when statically dropping to flat u land rear wheel first it gives you more time to spread the load ie landing back wheel absorbing alot of hte shock then dropping ur front...thats y u never land both wheels at hte same time to flat

sooo true... I have only recently just started riding bmx, and you learn really quickly that drops to flat can be killer... ESPECIALLY on the wrists... Now i am getting a LITTLE bit of style and technique up, i am finding that i naturally drop the back wheel down first.
The other day i was lining up for a 2 foot drop and all of a sudden my bike veered to the left, off a four foot unexpected never attempted before on my bmx drop... My back wheel came waaayyy down, it felt natural as all heck, and smoother than some trannies ive hit on my mtb...
i couldnt believe it... so now i do it all the time on my bmx, and have begun to transfer the habit onto my mtb... you see, its easier to move a bmx around your body, so it took me until i bought my bmx to realise that this was the smoothest, easiest way to land a drop to flat!

sickedachops!!!!

I can't really quantify it, but that's pretty much the way to do it
drop the rear wheel, but let the front wheel travel in pretty much a straight line off the drop (ie, don't lift it), and it's very smooth.
