yeah those big hits are really nice

I would suggest looking around for 2nd hand stuff as well, Just ask Scott what a great bike you can get 2nd hand (not a scratch on his NEW tomac). We didnt even have to look hard for it, though I do feel he was pretty lucky to find that :D

We should have a classifieds section up in the near future!

I must admit I do feel quite lucky.... I couldnt have wished for a better deal. :)

Giant dh comp. By far the cheapest dh race ready bike with good bits. Boxxers, 5th element and hayes.

They're like $8k aren't they? Still a bit XX for the average mtb joe.

for a new bike I'd have to agree, there's nothin on that thing that needs changing. As for the big hit (big Shit) I'm not a fan, 24" rear wheel ugggggg!!!! No thanks!

Stealth

i saw this tomac, very similar to pana's, over on TRC for $2900

http://www.trc.org.au/mtb/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=681

i'd buy it right now if i had the cash, looks sweet as...

I would say the 2003 Intense M1. That thing has the right geometry to make you go faster then any other bike.

Where the farkin hell are all these tomacs coming from. I've seen that one at a few races but can't think of who owned it. I'd watch out, there were quite a few tomacs that were completly thashed!

Scott

Ahh i just checked the link. It's Tomacs. Everything they are saying about it on the fourm are true. I'd stay away from it, Tomac is the true passenger!

yeah, $2900 was pretty tempting, but a bit sus at the same time, there was second hand raceline on the same forum went for more than that.

Scott

$1 CDN = $1.14 AUD

so $3500 AUD ~ $3070 CDN

That Raceline was pretty much brand new. The guy who rode it was not the fastest guy so he never really damaged it and he kept really good care of it.

that tomac certainly doesn't look like a Tomacs' It isn't lightweight enough and doesn't have xc rims. d-8's right, steer well clear.

Scott
21-03-2003, 03:18 PM
i never actually noticed the rims... I had a set of alex's on my KHS, they were pretty shit... didnt take much to buckle them and im not a very heavy rider (well I wasnt)

Thats before he got obsessed with making a V10 weigh nothing! This was when he owned about 4 dh bikes and none of them worked.

shmity
25-03-2003, 08:07 PM
the stinky would be ok for a budget dh'er (im riding one now) but with that linkage you get heaps of brake jack, which is a bitch.

belly_up
25-03-2003, 08:13 PM
there's now also 2 stinky's in our classifieds section (http://www.farkin.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=14), one for $1500, and one for $1750, both complete bikes, might also fit the budget DH category.

i'll put in another mention for the Raceline Extreme Pro DH (http://www.racelinebikes.com/range.php?range=dual) (needs some more adjectives in the name don't you think? :P )
Was looking at prices today, they're going for $3150AUD brand new, 7in front and rear, hayes etc. only sus bit might be the DNM suspension bits, but i've never ridden them, so i wouldn't know.
