Citrus Speed Imports in conjunction with Orange Bikes and Royal Racing are pleased to announce the development of their Australian ‘Grass Roots’ DH team. The final details of the team are still being confirmed, but essentially we’re looking to build a team of riders across all states to represent Orange Bikes Royal and Dangerboy components in their local and greater area. The difference between this team and other large scale race teams is the focus isn’t on the elite and pro or junior classes. We’re opening an invitation to riders right throughout the ranks from Vets to Sport class right through to under 15’s – basically riders that otherwise might be overlooked by standard race programs. Team positions are strictly limited per state.

Although it’s a pre requisite to race regularly and be passionate about the sport we are not necessarily looking for the fastest riders in each class, rather we’re after riders that will be excellent ‘ambassadors’ for our brands and represent a good image. We are accepting resumes as of now - if you fit our criteria, then we will provide you with full details of the race package we have on offer as a member of the team. The team will have it’s own identity and logo and will be sure to have a dominating race presence in the seasons to come. Along with having the support of Citrus Speed Imports strong brands, team riders will also have access to and support from the industry’s leading component and suspension brands. Plans of a similar Freeride and XC team are in the works, but for now we’re focusing on a strong DH program.

So if you think you’re a worthy candidate for the team, put together a resume and send it through to us. All resumes must be computer based. Résumé’s can be emailed or sent as a hard copy. Please note that all resumes need to include current details about your self including your racing/riding history. Please also include a current riding photo and also a head shot.

Forward resumes to:
Citrus Speed Imports
“Grass Roots Team”
Po Box 7135
Leura NSW 2780

Or email - citrusspeedimports@bigpond.com

We will be accepting resumes up until the 20th of December. The team roster will then be announced the first week of January. With the National being the teams official début event. Stay tuned to Farkin.net for more details as they come to hand.

I guess this program doesnt include sponsorship for HT since orange dont exactly make a HT for DH :(

but dam i'd like to take a Ms-Isle for a few (few = 99 to the power of infinity) DH runs :p

I think there doing a good job but they're missing out on a few things like for the poorer people of MTB what happens if you can't afford an orange? Is there like special offers you can get once your part of the team? Because some people mighten of even tried downhill as they may not have been able to afford it... therefore being left behind.

just my $0.02

a solution to this might be bikes which they can use for the season?

I think this is sensational and credit should be given to the boys at Citrus/Orange. Name me any other Bike supplier that is giving so many riders the oportunity for support in every state. My son and I both ride 223's and although Im too old,(masters) my son is up for it.

Well Done!

Its these types of initaitives that help our sport. In recent years the price of competitive DH bikes have come down so it is more affordable to the masses. Now these types of deals help those people wishing to sample high end rigs and quality componentry that they may otherwise hadn't been able to. Kutos to Orange and I hope this sets a precident to all the other bike brands.

Will the team debut still be at the nationals? Seems like the perfect event to enveil a team such as this.

Hmm, seems the boys at Orange / Citrus Speed have been overwhelmed with applications (several times the amount that was expected), and thus will not be able to get the team finalised by the Nationals next weekend...
*They're probably just out riding their bikes or simply getting hammered on too regular a basis!

Good news is that in the mean time, more negotiations have been had for providing more race support for the chosen team.
Appologies all round, and any updates will be posted in this thread.

I only really saw this now... It's obviously way too late yeah? But seriously. If Orange need a representative over West Coast and didn't get much response over here (i don't see THAT many W.A. Boys on this site) I'm a 16 yr/old soon to be racer (all season :) ) So if they do need a rep over here. I'd be 110% more than happy to make the specific information...

Just a thought :o :)

To all those lazy sods who don't know how to think outside the square, be productive and pick up the phone or shoot an email to citrusspeedimports@bigpond.com instead of crying on an internet forum.

Mind you this is a good way of picking out who are the lazy riders ...

Squidley is correct, if you cant wait for the answer to come through in all due time, be proactive and show Citrus you are keen. Understand that even though they are swamped, it is an important decision for them to make, they are responsible to their suppliers and sponsors to ensure thre right people are chosen to represent their brands.

Firstly its great to get such an awesome response to this program, thanks to everyone out there who has sent in their application, and there has been HUNDREDS!
So thanks again, we are finally sorting through the last couple of dozen of resumes and well be in touch again real soon.
Apologies for the slow turnaround but the inundation of resumes has slowed us a lot, keep your ears posted in the next week or two.
Accepted riders will vary on different levels of talent ability and location so youre all in with a chance.

Here it is Ladies and Gentlemen,
keep an eye out on your inbox or mailbox.

Citrus Speed Imports is proud to announce that selection for the Grass Roots teams has now been finalised. For those of you who have been successful in your application, congratulations. For those who have missed out we apologise that we are limited in the number of applicants we can take on and look forward to hearing from you in the future.

We were literally inundated with hundreds of resumes, ranging from hand written notes on the back of envelopes, right through to full-on power point DVD presentations and as a result it took us much longer to process all the applications fairly. Thanks for your patience and applications. We are looking at continuing a fine tradition of support that we have developed here over the years with Orange and Citrus Speed Imports. Some of the riders we’ve helped out over the past have been riders like Bryn Atkinson, Dave McLaughlin, Luke Strom, Ben Cory, Tai Lee Muxlow, Jarl Jensen, Justin Havukainen and Rick Boyer. Hopefully you could be one of the next line up of stars too.

Keep an ear out for a response from the Citrus Speed Imports team by the end of March. We will notify you personally if you have been accepted and are prepared to join the Orange grass Roots Program. For those of you that haven’t been successful this time around, hopefully other distributors out there will take note of the overwhelming response we’ve had to this program and launch a rider support team themselves.

Thankyou once again for your time and effort.
The Team
Citrus Speed Imports.

i know it's ended and all, but is this going to be a one off thing, or is there going to be an intake every 12 months or something, to replace riders that have left or anything?
or are we all too far gone...

With any luck we will be trying very hard to do this every year. We are always taking sponsorship proposals.... before the any upcoming race season is always best.
