Yesturday at Emu Plains i took a BIG tumble down a rockface and f*cked myself good , real good. Gashed legs , bruised ribs , smashed cheekbone and dislocated my shoulder , AGAIN ! After x-rays etc i have been told that i have damaged my shouder big time and biking is a definate no - no for a long , long time. For those of you that think full armour isn't needed or over the top , just remember what you you are going to be doing. We insist on pushing ourselves and doing these crazy things but remember when things go wrong it hurts , alot !!
There is no way i'll be able to push my bike like i used to so it's up for grabs . No point it sitting there and i can't afford another big fall. Anyone that knows me knows my Stinky is well looked after , looks the biz and has lots of nice choice bits . See Sale forum for details. Very sad way to end things but i can't be off work with injuries all the while and having ridden like a maniac for too many years than i want to remember it's time to take it easy and let my body recover abit. If your going big , get as much armour on you as you can , it's worth it!!

man heaps sorry bout the crash, hope u recover quicker than ever and suddenly find enough money in the bank to buy an m1.
get well dude
Dude, I feel so bad for you. I couldn't imagine having to pack in what I love so much.
Hopefully others will learn a lesson from this. Full body armour will save you one day. You may sweat like a pig in the summer, but it does work. I alreay tested the limits of mine and they are only months old.

That would shit me to tears if i could never ride again
Hope you find another hobby, stamps?
shit dude, sorry to hear that! If you're realy wanting to stick around the MTB scene and races and stuff you could still marshal races or somethin, I know it's not riding but at least you're there.
Hope your soulder magically gets better and you're back to 100% ASAP.
That sucks dude, hope you have a full and speedy recovery :)

as every one else has said, sucks what happened.
on the constructive side tho. i was told by two doctors that my knee was pretty much finished, and i had a couple of good sessions in surgery to look forward to just to keep walking normally. was refered to a rehab pysio by a rehab counsellour. this guy took a full history, had me walk up and down a corridor in my jocks for 20 minutes while he sat making notes. his responce to the docs reccomendations was "fucking butchering retards"
after one week of doing the exercises he gave me, i can aleady walk up more stairs than before, and the knee is already feeling better than it has in years.
take the time to look at some other options, if someone had just told me how much difference doing 20 mins a day of weird ass stretching exercises would have helped me i'd have called them a freak and looked for a stick.

Keep riding man. Give your shoulder a couple of months to heal, and then try some XC to keep it strong.
I blew my shoulder riding moto when I was younger. After it had healed I kept riding and had no problems. It was when I stopped riding that it started fucking me around and I had to get a reconstruction. That was over 10 years ago and I'm still going strong skiing, downhilling (with armour ) and rock climbing. Don't rush the recovery, get good physio, then keep the shoulder strong and flexible and you'll be hitting shit as hard as ever!

Just like to say thanks for the kind words and support for staying with it. Well thanks to physio going well , lots of exercises etc my shoulder feels heaps better. Went out for a ride yesturday , nothing much just messing around down the beach front and how good was it. I know i'm a mile off being able to go big on things but at least i can still be out. Actually could help my fitness as i'm a lazy prick and don't like going up hill. So yea , thanks for the comments , it's amazing what some kind words , a new bike DVD and helmet can do! Just got to save up for some nice chest/back armour and we're back where we started hopefully. I'm giving it another few weeks and out for the city ride i think. Nice one .
Dan
ay ill give ya my arm...
