It's actually out at Darkes Forest on private property and not any of the trails around "the Burgh", if that's what you were thinking. If you want more info contact Ken Mac at SORC, at this time he is one of the few that can pass on detailed information about their new site.

Sorry trying to make a change, trying to keep the June 11 date for Northern Region. This gives time for riders to get to the race and come back on the monday holiday, have sent e-mails to Ken and Neil trying to work it out.

Just to keep things interesting, Round-3 28th May at Penrose may/will have a change of Venue. We have been advised that the forest containing the track is to be harvested/logged, most likely before the event. Alternate venue has been identified at Wingello State Forest (about another 10km down the road). Committee members from Southern Highlands and Wollongong clubs are working together to create a new track for this race.
Will keep you advised of updates as they come through.

Is this happening on 9 April?
www.hvmtbr.com (http://www.hvmtbr.com/) do not have it in their calendar. The date also clashes with the combined MWMTB and WSMTB round.
I assume that the other dates are confirmed. I know that WMBC are working towards 28 May.

Time wise things are starting to get a little tight. We are very interested in hosting a round, but would need to know very soon for it to happen in April and still get things organised.

As long as you have a plentiful supply of hats I reckon you guys could put on the best race of the series so far tomorrow. The bar has not been set very high.

We are definitely interested, but don't want to put on a half assed event. Plus if its cut too short timewise, not enough people will be able to plan to actually get to the race.

Just got off the phone with Ken at SORC and he agrees to move the date for state round-4 from 11th to 18th June so as not to clash with WWS at HMBA.
Also expect an update on Round-2 (April) to come sooooooon.

Round 2 is now confirmed on April 23 at killingworth.
More details to come real soon.
And a quick message from our celebrity course setter, taken from the HMBA website, about the proposed track.
Greetings fellow HMBAers,
For the state round we will run a similar track as the one planned for the 8Hr working week series race in june.
This will include several tracks that most of you wouldnt know and that we haven't used in competition for years.
So get your arses out to killi for the state round and preview the 8hour course.
If youre not there, you better be dead or in jail. and if youre in jail then break out!!
Kind regards,
your club secretary.

Hi Guys,
Could someone please tell me who is in charge of the NSW XC state series?
I am seeing conflicting dates and hosts for the rounds.
HVMTBR (Port Macquarie) was asked to host the "Northern Round" of the series on the June long weekend. However, it now appears that this mightn't be the case.
Is there one person or club who is responsible for organising the series. And better still, is there a website for this that has a central point of reference that people can go to to check out these details. I can't seem to find any information on the MTBA website about our state series.
Thanks
Greg

One person in charge of NSWMTB XC is Neil Barlow, president of Manly MTB, BUT Neil is a little busy and has not been able to carry out all the processes. He is a volenteer like most of us. The story so far, Farkin.net is the NSWMTB web site, provided free so riders do not have to pay for infastructure, MTBA is no help they are trying to fix their web site but so far this is the site and MTBA deals with national details each state should provide their own web site under current policy.
The origional plan was to run a northern region XC on the June long weekend to give time to get there and back. At the first state meeting Neil made a decision to give that round to SORC. That left each other round on a normal weekend. Neil has not been able to remedy the situation so Chris Prohm (NSWMTB points and complaints) has arranged for Hunter to take the 2nd round after discussions with Northern Region that they would be OK with out a round.
Now today I have received infomation that has cast doubt on the SORC round in June when I have details of weather SORC can run the round You may be contacted to run the June long weekend round, if SORC cannot.
Clear as mud! Why is XC so hard to organise?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for clearing this up. I will pass the information onto the other HVMTBR board members and update our website.
As it currently stands, HVMTBR is fine if we don't have a round here. We understand the travel that is required by a majority of people.

In reality it wasn't the travel time that's the issue. Your locale is no further for most than Thredbo and in many cases you are closer. Problem was more with dates we had available for your proposed round and HVMTBR calendar and commitments. We will definately get our act together and be more organised for next year's series. You guys will have first option of dates for your round. Again apologies for stuffing you guys around.

What is the current situation with Penrose/Wingello State Forests? Has Penrose definitely been logged (I have heard it has) and if so is the round being moved to Wingello? If so, has a track been cut at Wingello yet?

Entry fees for the killi state round will be $35. I'll have the forms and start times up shortly , however given the late nature of putting this race together, we won't be taking pre-entry unfortunatley.
Sorry if this is a problem for anyone.
There is a maintenance day on Monday the 17th to fix up the trails to be used in the race track, get along and help if you can.
If anyone has any questions, let me know.
