Any chance of you dudes whipping up an RSS feed for us nerds (or other site admins)?
I realise this sort of thing's probably not high on your list of priorities and is likely to be under utilised, but it would be cool. And hey it's not like it takes long to do.
Anyway it's just a random idea that popped into my head, something for the future maybe.

Alright boys, I've been studying:
Rich Site Summary (RSS) is a lightweight XML format designed for sharing headlines and other Web content. Think of it as a distributable "What's New" for your site. Originated by UserLand in 1997 and subsequently used by Netscape to fill channels for Netcenter, RSS has evolved into a popular means of sharing content between sites (including the BBC, CNET, CNN, Disney, Forbes, Motley Fool, Wired, Red Herring, Salon, Slashdot, ZDNet, and more). RSS solves a myriad of problems webmasters commonly face, such as increasing traffic, and gathering and distributing news. RSS can also be the basis for additional content distribution services
Yep, that sure cleared it up....
My best guess (best of a bad bunch) is that it's sort of like a constantly updating news feed; so instead of you having to constantly check the site you have a program monitoring it for you, which alerts you to any major breakthroughs.
Would be great for these forums, that way we can all get notified of the bitch fights before they end!

Da-ding, ten points to wombat. Scott's been nice enough to set it up so that whenever a new news item gets posted, the RSS feed (it's actually just a specially formatted document sitting on the web-server) gets updated and anyone who cares gets alerted soon after. You can use it in a couple of ways:
1) Have a program running on your PC that runs around checking site's RSS feeds every now and then. When it finds something new has been added it pops up and lets you know. I'm currently doing this with the Miranda (http://miranda-im.org/) messaging client (like a fancy MSN) and the appropriate plugin (http://miranda-im.org/download/details.php?action=viewfile&id=409).
2) If you run a website you can have a script that checks various RSS feeds and in much the same way as above adds the headlines to your site. So if I start up say a site for a local mountain bike club I could have a sidebar with the latest headlines from Farkin that are automatically updated.
