View Full Version : Trading access group
Think the new system of templates makes these forums much better indeed.
Just wondering though...
what percentage of Farkin members are signed up because most people seem detirmined to use the old forum?
and (sorry if I missed something in an earlier announcement) is the old forum going to remain after the changeover?
Thanks
Gutty

i think the main reason they are mainly using the old forum is that i havent slapped the security on it yet. which will happen in a few days.... after that any posts that are not in the correct format will be locked or deleted.
Gutty: check the "New Trading System" thread in the anouncements forum.

Okay... for Gutty and anyone else who cares to play... (hey it's my thread I can hijack it if I want!)... name the film this line came from
"Hey, man! Don't lay that heavy cuttin jive on me."
Clue... the film has been mentioned here on Farkin.

it takes all of about 5 seconds to apply, and it makes our job 10x easier.

I really dunno Grip but it sounds like something Mr Samuel L Jackson might say in Pulp Fiction.
You're right, Gutty, it does... but you're wrong, it isn't.
Much older film and Australian and funny as a bucket load of busted arseholes because of the way it was said in an absolutely dead-pan, straight, flat and monotone aussie accent.
Remember the film "Stone"?
Hey, I really did crack up with your "What chu talkin bout Willis ??" comment.

Nah, never heard of it but sounds like i better have a look for it next time i hire a vid.
Who's in it ? Anyone "known" ??
Stone! What a classic movie. Filmed in my stomping ground, the pub in the movie is now a lawyers office, and the container terminal is a park. Every time I see the movie it reminds me of growing up when the place had some life and character and not a bunch of bmw driving wankers.
Thats coming from an intense riding wanker! :)

Bill Hunter and Rebecca Gilling and Ray Bennett, I think it was Rebecca Gillings first movie.

Yeah...classically BAD unfortunately. Hadn't seen it since it first came out, then I got it out on Vid about a year ago to show wife and boy (18yo) "what a REAL film was like"...
... oh shit-me-sideways-through-a-straw but I wish I hadn't!!!!! What I thought was cool then is really bad in THIS century... REALLY BAD. I still choke when I think of Stone's first appearance in the film... the "tough", "bad-boy" cop riding his Commando up to the bikie pub IN THAT BLOODY WHITE SUIT, HELMET, GLOVES AND (I shit you not baby puppies) WHITE FARKIN COWBOY BOOTS!!!!!!
I still choke... wife still laughs... boy STILL thinks dad's a dick head so nothing's changed there at least.
Was that with the ORIGINAL COMMANDO TANK?Those things are rare, just ask Fred Gassit.
Ahahaha like 5 people died on the Stone reminiscence ride down some freeway or something in a Harley pileup, didn't they?

There were quite a few "original" tanks on Norton Commandos, Steve. The very first original was fibreglass and had the habit of splitting open on the bottom seam... you know... the bottom seam that was JUST ABOVE THE HOT ENGINE!!!!!! That and the fact that in accidents they BURST open and sprayed ignited fuel around like a napalm party had Norton change to steel after that...
... but there are actually quite a few Commandos still about. Real "super-bikes" of their day... slugs now.
And yeah there was a big pile up, including Angry Anderson from Rose Tattoo who broke his arm I think. Like I've always said, if you're going to ride a motorcycle... ride a motorcycle, not a Harley... cause I prefer something that steers, handles and brakes.

My dad made me sit through a screening of it on SBS once, to show me what things were like back in his day. T'was a very cringe-worthy experience, and I think I was left with the same impression Talon was after watching it!

Oh yeah, there's lots of Commandos around, lots of Nortons in general. The old man races the classic road classes and there are some very cool bikes around, none of them match up to the Cotton though! Well at least when's it's going that is....

i had a '68 triumph saint, the model they brought into australia for the tasmanian police. was a great bike, but you had to reset the timing after every ride. every single ride. got so i could retime the bike in 3 minutes using a plug that fitted into the sparkplug hole and stopped the cylinder at 10mm before TDC.
and my saying for harleys is always they are great as long as you don't need to speed up, slow down, or change direction. basicaly just ride it to wherever you need to pose, and leave it there. probably best to get it trailered in the day before to be safe.
stone is one of the great riding movies ever. and we all Z900's don't we?

watched the original Mad Max last nite. spent the whole time thinking that the Z's in that would now be worth more than they were new.
i had a Z650 for a little while, was a great courier bike. so much more ..... "soul" i guess than the modern bikes that copied it.

so comfy to ride to boot.... and the z650s were nearly as quick as the 900s
thems were the days..... (when i wasnt born)
Oh TeeKay... good to see you and I are on the same wavelength when it comes to Hogs... (makes spitting sound)....
But now that I'm hearing about what everyone's DAD rides I'm really sorry I every started this hijack of the thread.
