............. or go buy a bike that you actually own..........

he he he!

anyway, back to the bike, rear travel is 8.75"
rear end is 150x12, threaded one side and comes with a Rock Shox Maxle axle, goes together pretty damn sweet!!!
frame weight came in at 5.5kg with DHX5 3" stroke shock

bb height is about 14" un-sagged, lower then the Peeler and front end is slacker than the Peeler

more measurements were done but all lost in the excitement!!!!

Sorry bout that covy. Typed before I thought. Your are obviously legit... or stupid enough to post a link to someone else's pinkbike photo album (which doesn’t seem far off what I would expect from the old Konasupreme mind you). Sorry about that again, poor bloke was just sharing his rides only for me to blast him for stealing the pictures :o. Well, welcome to Farkin and we'll just put my lapse of thought down to jealousy because all three of those rides are f-ing nice ;) .

..or go buy a bike that you actually own..

Whats funny about that? You mean you guys dont go buy bikes that you already own? Freaks.... Yeah that came out wrong, replace "buy" with "post"... actually on second thought just delete that whole sentence. We'll put that one down to sheer stupidity then shall we? No wait drunkeness, yeah that'll do just fine. I'll try post when I'm a bit more sober next time

(better go on topic) damn nice looking bike. 4500 isnt too bad, we havent come to expect coves to be cheap and i think for a boutique frame thats on par with the rest of them.

Yeah I will be riding the light blue shocker at Canberra. After a quick spin last nite, they definately pedal very well and feel super nimble. Weight is low and geometry feels better and better each time I sit on it.

I would almost put the life savings on the fact that it will never break.

Cant wait for the new Hooker !

But it is not too good when you can get a complete for about that from Cove Bikes, Main Street store in North Vancouver! $4,500CAD + 7% Tax + Exchange Rate!

Hence...

Wow...

Hmm... how much is a return ticket to Vancouver??

yeah well excuse mr. cove for running a business. you're getting pretty close to 6 grand for just what you've outlined above, so you tell me, how much is a plane ticket to vancouver?

About 2,500 Sydney -> Vancouver return. Add in some accomodation, travel insurance, extra freight costs and it would seem pretty uneconomical.

Also, I'd hazard a guess that Adam is quoting RRP. Most bike shops would be doing much better deals i would imagine!

Exactly the same frame weight as the ironhorse sunday.

5.5kg (12.2lbs) is not the same weight as a sunday frame.
A sunday with DHX5/steel is around 5.3kg (11.7lbs) to my knowledge.

Yeah.. but you may be able to also ride the North Shore & Whistler for around the same price as a complete bike here! Just a thought..

But if people are happy to pay a small fortune on a bike, rather than paying a similar small fortune on a bike & holiday.. go for it! I know what I would do.. but that is me.. not the general biking community!:)

It's a little inappropriate to be making these kind of suggestions in this thread. Mr Cove is running a business and he's posted in the approriate place to tell us about it.

If you want to conjur(sp) up an elaborate plan to undercut the Australian dealer and save yourself some money, do it elsewhere.

How about simply rejoicing in the things beauty ...

that said "oooooeeeeeeeee ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Hey udi I dont know if the weight you have seen is a manufacturer listed or not but they are within 50g of each other including rear axle. The sunday framekit (USA built one) is lighter but not sure how much.

As far as the holiday idea, It would be great but when you spend big coin on a bike its important to have someone who can sort out any problems and set up for you if you need that.

Hey covy,

Noticed in your album on pinkbike you have a picture of a DHR with a single crown totem. Got any more pics of it?

That shocker looks good in silver and orange by the way, and they do look better in the flesh then in the pics.

Thanks

Well I've had enough time on the Shocker now to evaluate what I think of it

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/5455/img1901ez3.jpg

Having owned a Cove Peeler previously I liked the Feel, but found the Head Angles to be too steep for what I wanted to do on it, and the BB position to be a little out of whack.
When the 'New' Shocker design appeared on the scene, I contemplated for a little while as to getting one or not.
The pictures of the Poo brown colour and bent seat tube didnt do anything for me.
Several months passed and I desperately needed a new frame.
I was talked into ordering a Shocker Frame by my LBS, and given the pretty good price I decided to go ahead and take the plunge.
The pictures of these frames really dont do it justice, they are a thing of beauty in the flesh!

Initially the pros are that it Jumps really well, has a good head angle, slightly slacker than the '05 Peeler, giving it a little more stability at higher speeds whilst still being able to corner really well (having gotten used to a Demo9, it was a most welcome pleasant surprise on the first ride!)

But unfortunately I do have to say that there are some negatives that are similar to what I experienced with the Peeler.
Rear wheel flex is a little more than you would like out of a high class DH bike, and the chain-growth is still very evident, causing those god awful noises of the chain reefing on the cassette.
On a lesser note, I was a little disappointed in that ordering a new frame (that retails for $4400) you cant specify what weight spring for the shock you get, for that type of money it should be a given.

But overall I'm still pretty happy with my new purchase

Hey Adam! make my T-Shirt a medium......dont charge me too much

I don't really have the same feelin about the flexibility of the rear. Maybe beacause i don't have the new lighter link plates. No hole in mine. Cove will send my the same than yours in February so I'll try to feel the difference. The shocker really feel stiffer than the peeler. I really love this bike and its stability. I have no proble of chain-growth. It's strange. If the frame was a little lighter, it would be perfect for me. I have on it a 350lbs/in RCS titanium spring so i didn't care of the one Cove send with the shock. My frame is a Medium one and if my memory is good, the spring i received on the DHX5 was a 450lbs/in

When i watch your Shocker, mine feel sad... I really like the pixie blue color !
