Greetings.

If anyone is familiar with Catalina in Katoomba, Blue Mountains, they will know it is an old Motor race circuit in a bush gully next to town. There are a couple of bike lines in there, but nothing really to speak of.

I heard from someone who works for the council that they want to put in a bike track there. I think they are thinking of a kiddies style bitumen circuit, but it could be an opportunity to get something legal built for the off roaders.

So I thought I'd mention it, in case anyone has got the smarts or motivation to try to lobby Council to build something worthwhile.

Thats Aborigonal land not council land I believe. They levelled one of the oldest BMX tracks in Aus that used to be there so I can't imagine them building anything. The hills not really big enough either.
Do you live in Katomba?

I'm not sure how they are dealing with the Aboriginal ownership issue. Perhaps part of the area is Council owned?
Anyway, I was imagining a modest BMX style thing, not a full black diamond run.

-Yes, I'm local.
Anything would be good; I hate getting evils from the dog walkers and bush-regeners whenever I cut through that gully.

Yes WSMTB looked at the area in 2003 after a discussion with Paul King but it has too many green eyes watching. Pauls said if you touch a tree they will string you up, so have been looking in the Megalong but not very hard. Will post a separate plan that WSMTB would like to see in the Blue Mountains.

I'm in Katoomba and Catalina definatelly ain't worth looking at,It's like centenial park in Sydney, like the main park for the town,it's poor riding and going there will just be bad for MTB politics up here so please don't. You can PM me and I can possibly take you to some spots if you pass my questionare.

Centennial aint that bad :p . its got a nice rock garden and a shitload of empty area where you could build some small jumps and not be noticed :D
