With a little over a week to go – Mt Perry 6hr is set to go (June 11). The track is finalised and all the pieces are in place. Bundaberg Mountain Bike Club have had a club race over the route and it was all smiles and grins. Being a publicly-available facility we’ve had our share of curious visitors who have taken a run around the course with nothing but praise for the designers .

A few challenging sections have tested riders and at least one – “Trance 1 “ is headed for the workshop for urgent repairs…sorry David. Organising such an event comes with the usual levels of anxiety and stress and 6-weeks out we were looking at our nominations and the amount of track work to be done and having some doubts.

Well we've done the hard yards and the nominations continue to roll in , though as one Sydney organiser advised us "don’t stress about the nominations as Queensland’ers always nominate late"; stating he had one event where 200 persons nominated the day before the event.

Although not even over our inaugural event we are already looking and planning for the future with ideas being bounced around for a point to point or a longer race. With a local council in Perry Shire that is pro riding and the cooperation of land owners we have plenty of terrain to use and decisions on what to do next.

Its full steam ahead for MTB in Perry thanks to the Bundy MTB club and Mt Perry Sport & Recreation Clubs. “ if you build it they will come “
