It's a pretty simple concept.

DHDozer came up with the idea and posted a suggestion on these forums, i have run with the idea, and Scott gave me this area to play with.

Every Monday night at roughly 8pm I will post up an interview i have conducted digitally with a member and regular user of Farkin.net forums.

I do all the work for this section, so if you have any comments or suggestions PM me.

Hopefully this will become a section that people can go o when they feel like a light read, will be able to have a laugh, and get to know some of the members a little better.

i will edit this post as things change,
Demo Man

awesome work. to make it easier on the eyes, can we put questions in bold? I found it hard to distinguish question from answer

What about an optional picture? Sent in by the interviewee... Of them doing anything (riding, sleeping, whatever). Just to put a username to face :o

16-06-2006, 03:47 PM
I'd second that - not just the folks of farkin, but the faces of farkin would be a good thing to include in each interview.

demo man
16-06-2006, 04:49 PM
done.

not everyone may want a photo of themselves up though, so this will NOT be possible everytime.

16-06-2006, 07:35 PM
I don't know if this has been asked but, who decides who gets interviewed?

demo man

I don't know if this has been asked but, who decides who gets interviewed?

that would be me.

i'll keep it secret until it's posted each week, and i'll choose someone i think will have something interesting to say. it's pretty random, and there are a very large number of members who fit into that category, but this is a long-term thing, so we'll get through a lot of people over time.

if someone really gets the shits then they can always PM me.

Yeah I figured that, so maybe make it an optional extra?
That way if you're bored you could do some "creative" picture additions :D

Have you even read the posts?? Demo man said he will keep it secret who the next person will be, so we have to wait and find out when it's posted up.

pretty sure i still need a custom name hahaha.

my additions to this site has slumped in the last week. damn being 1800km away from home! but the MTF section is mad rad. a photo should also be included. either riding/passed out in a gutter/being arrested/or just being themselves.

Are all these "meet the farkers" things just going to consist of everyone trying to post the most obscure answers possible in the hope of raising a laugh? I can see it getting stale overly quickly..

Hrmmm... I answered most questions seriously. Eventually - after rambling on for some time. It's hard to answer a question about places I wouldn't like to ride - I've never thought about it before.

Don't read it then. It's all contained neatly into one forum just so you don't have to read it if you don't want to.

I reckon it is great learning more about the people that you converse with each day here on farkin. If you don't want to read about someone.......don't.

demo man
19-12-2006, 09:59 AM
get a life then!

Demo's busy with Christmas stuff, on top of the usual workload, so there won't be any more MTF's until early 2007. I think everyone will undertsnad that, maybe a few kids on school holidays won't, but that's okay - they can ride their bikes instead.

Meery Christmas and have a great new years, best of luck.

Thanks for the info Demo Man.
I'll take this oppurtunity to say Thank You and well done to Demo Man for our first year of Meet The Farkers. I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say that it has been a fine addition to farkin and it has provided plenty of laughs and plenty of information on some of the members that we talk to each and everyday. For me, I have gotten to know some members a lot better through MTF and it has given us all an insight into how some members operate, what they do and sometimes unfortunately...what they look like! We've had a very broad amount of different people on MTF, photographers, expert trail builders, elite wolrd beaters and weekend warriors who just love to ride.
Farkin is the place for anything to do with MTB and MTF has boosted the good content of the site by a hell of a lot.
Thanks Demo Man and Thanks Scott for putting up with some of the stuff that has gone down over this year on MTF.

What about 10 or so short answer questions?

Just so you get you stuck into it abit more

ie,

Name:
Age:
bike:
ect.

I know you already have that, but its in a paragraph kinda thing and I think it owuld be more interesting to be hit with afew straight facts.

That doesnt really allow for much insight... rather just a few facts. MTF opens up the weird and wonderful stories and events that led the interviewees life on farkin and with MTB.

Using a dot point answer system would quickly loose any interest from readers, and would inturn become obsolete.

Leave it how it is...:)

Wasnt suite sure where to post this.. but I have a suggestion.

What about afew weeks in advance have an nomination for Meet The Farkers... Similar to the way that BOTM is run...

Get people to nominate 10 or so entries...

And then post a new thread getting people to vote on who they want to be the next 'farker'

Watcha' think dozer

Yeah theres been some really interesting interviews so far, but I think it a little silly when people like Glenn Jacobs are interviewed, considering as he is not a regular poster, and how hard is it to pick up AMB etc and read an interview with him or Jared Graves. No disrespect to either of them, but I don't think they fit what MTF was originally about. Getting to know the regular people behind the screen-name and avatar.

I was only really taking the reins for a few weeks at the start of the year. I'd like to do another but it's a pain in the arse to organise at the moment as I'm away working a lot and I'm never sure about how much internet access I'll get. Also a lot of the great potential interview subjects aren't always too keen on having their soul bared for all to see, which makes the job of keeping it entertaining even harder.

Truth be told, this was originally Demo-man's baby which then got passed on to Dozer. I was only filling in briefly. We could do with another good interviewer sure enough but I don't want to cast out an open invitation to all and sundry to bug the admin for the post. If somebody's witty and articulate enough and has the dedication to do it (no immature illiterate dickheads going OMG I c00d so intrvue my matez!!!1!) then maybe they should contact Scott but you didn't hear that from me ;)(he's a busy man after all...)
