This is the definative resource for Trail building. If your serious about building a trail, this is essential reading.
IMBA's "Trail Solutions, IMBA Guide to building sweet singletrack" (http://www.imba.com/resources/trail_building/trail_solutions.html)
272 pages, with lots of diagrams, Freeriding (northshore) included.
If you really get into the Zen of trail building then the more advanced
Natural Surface Trails by Design (http://www.imba.com/resources/trail_building/nstbd.html)
