Not being able to ride has forced me to find other stuff to amuse myself so i've started trying to learn how to use my digi camera a bit better. Well i've been tagging along with some of my MXer mates to our private track at Picton to shoot some pics. here are a few of the results. Same jump as in my sig only it's been made a bit bigger.

I agree about the non-bluriness of the photos. very nice indeed.
What type of Supermotard does your bro have? I was reading about the Husaberg supermotard in an issue of Superbike that i picked up, and seemed to be seriously sweet. i like the whole concept a lot. But it costs the same money as a 620 monster, so it'd be a tough choice...

The camera is a Panasonic Lumix LC40, i use it in full manual mode(not that i have much idea what setting to use)with a shutter speed of around 250/500.
And yes, both, it's a 17" rim with a 320mm disc on it for Motard use.

UGLY, needs to have the suspension lowered, lower the centre of gravity

yeah some of those motard specific bikes are crazy expensive but trust me, not many guys are actually riding them. Most guys are running YZF426/450s and KTM 520s even a few 2 strokes getting out there.

This is the one i was looking at, it supposedly has custom designed geometry to suit the smaller wheel, rather than just sticking a 17 onto an MX bike:

Nice pics Gutty! I reckon it's nice to have a frame of reference for jumps like that tho, ie if you can show one or more of the takeoff, the landing, or the ground directly underneath the rider.
Very clear pics tho.

Easy on there CHEWY  , that pic was taken a little while ago, i'll get another one in a few days, mods since then are:
No more headlight(swapped for an MX style number plate)
Lowered the forks in the clamps 10mm
Gave the rear about 15mm more sag
New front guard(alot shorter, kinda like the FMX guys use)

yeah, nice bike i'm sure but for the $$$ i think i'd stick to an MX bike with smaller wheels. I doubt you'll find they're that much different anyhow(too small market to build a specific frame IMO). Could be though.........

the review i read said that they were a custom built frame, and that that was one of their claims to fame with that bike, but like you say, a mx bike with smaller wheels, or even better both sets of wheels, would be cheaper, and just as versatile. I did like the fact that they reckoned that Husaberg would kill pretty much any sports bike around town, till the speeds got up a bit...

Sorry mate but this is about the best i can do for ya, the area we ride in isn't very wide and if i stand back any further trees get in the way. You can see the dust coming off the take off lip about a meter to the right and you can see the top of the lander to the left though i don't think he's gonna land it too clean(a bit short) in this pic.

Yeah, so light and nimble compared to a sports bike. I'd really like to have a ride on that Burg, it certainly is schmick and if it is infact a motard specific frame i'd REALLY REALLY like to have a go on it. Not that i'm any expert, just be nice toi compare it to the XR. And yeah, my bro uses that bike for everything from Motard to MX so.......
That bike(or the pre production version) in action. Rider: Mark Avard

That's cool, I'm thinking more along the lines of showing ANY ground that you can relate to the rider, not necessarily all of it.

i feel stupid, someone explain this motard deal.. WTF is it? skatepark moto? haha
Motard (aka supermotard) is a combination of on- and off-road racing. They generally have a few smallish jumps (before anyone bags me for calling them small, I mean in relation to MX/SX), gravel corners etc etc in the off road section, and just use an existing section of road racetrack for the on-road section. It's pretty interesting stuff cos you can't have tyres that work well on both...

Yep, most guys use a slick for the soft compound then cut grooves into it for a bit of traction on the dirt. I believe Maxxis are about to release a motard specific tyre pretty soon. Thats one of the jobs for this weekend.
