Sorry about the half-hour delay. my bad.

ladies and gentleman, i present to you, Chris Herron!

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/demo_man/chris.jpg

Who are you?
Chris Herron (ASSMOSIS), an old fart who thinks he’s still young, Trek Session 10, Trek Fuel EX 4X, Trek 1500 Roadie, Revell 450R

Why did you choose that username?
Well it was actually given to me by Squidly Didly…seems I must do a lot of ass kissing!

Where do you live?
In the ghetto, aka Redfern

Why did you join Farkin?
I really cant remember to be honest, I think it may have been to sell something. Sounds familiar?

What's your best memory from Farkin?
I think it would have to be all the posts about a certain editors spelling in a certain magazine. Classic…YES, Professional…NO!

One thing you would like to see change about Farkin is:
Less sarcasm, little fuckers

How did you get into mountain biking?
BMX bike was getting a little too small, so natural progression to the big bikes. Never looked back either.

List 3 places you want to ride before you die:
Les Gets, been there before but couldn’t ride due to a dose of bird flu; Hawaii, over 12000ft high and insane single track; Cowans backyard…

List 3 places you DON'T want to ride before you die:
Eildon; Eildon; and maybe…..Eildon.

Funniest thing seen while riding:
Riding throught the rockies in Canada a black bear getting a blowjob…no shit they do it just like we do!

Best person to go on a long drive with:
Usually not by choice, but big Robbie Mac. I don’t think MTB has ever been discussed to that extent before.

What is currently on the computer desk you log onto Farkin from?
A few Macs (not Big Macs either), coffee cups, chocolate muffins, 40 DIRT mag back issues (still cant find that article), assortment of camera gear.

Is photography your full-time job?
Yes unfortunately, well not really full time. I cant really do anything full time… I get bored really easily.

What is it like traveling the world taking photos?
Well its has its highs and lows. The good shit is hangin with your mates, watchin the pros rip it up and partying after…the lows are everything else in between.

What is your favorite part of your job?
This…..last shoot I did for Troy Lee!!!

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/demo_man/sheri.jpg

How do your friends and family deal with you travelling so much?
Yeah they’re cool…my girly is a busy one as well, so we are as busy as each other. Does suck some time when your away for like 6 weeks though. Miss riding with your bros too!

How hard is it to get your photos published?
Well its not really that hard. If you understand the sport and grasp the basic concepts of composition and lighting… then your halfway there. Most bike mags will publish a good photo if it is relevant to the features/articles they are doing. Continue to send the editor you photos and eventually they will publish them. Remember, if your images look similar to the ones already published in the mag….then your going pretty well. If not….keep shooting!

How does the Australian bike scene compare to some of the overseas scenes you’ve encountered?
In Australia, we have a really competitive race scene happening, especially our national season when our boys return from O.S. Nothing is better for a sport than to have the worlds best to compete against. Our riders are continually getting faster and from an earlier age. With this momentum, we will no doubt fill podiums for the years to come in both juniors and open. There are only a few other countries that can boast that kind of competitive race scene, mainly U.K. and France.

What is your favourite part of the Aussie MTB scene?
My favourite would still have to be the road trips we go on, as part of racing/covering events goes. They are always fuckin so much fun and never cease to surprise me the shit you can get up to whilst on the road.

What would you change about the Aussie MTB scene?
Mmmm…not too sure. Ive been going to races since 1998 and not too much has changed over that time. The scene is really where it should be, racing wise. Possibly the biggest change of all could come with the collaberation of local councils/mtb clubs sanctioning DJ trails. So you need to be a member of a MTB club and be licensed to ride the trails. It is happenig in the UK and proving quite successful…meaning less trials are being flattened.

Any tips for photographers out there trying to make it ‘big time’?
Persevere, I know its sounds gay, but its really the only way to make it against the big boys. The more you’re out there shooting and developing your own unique style the futher you’re going to get. But remember to have fun doing it…otherwise it aint fukin worth it!

What’s your dream bike?
Well I think im on it at the moment. The Session 10 is a completely amazing bike. Shave 500-1000 grams of the frame and it would be perfect. Never ridden a better bike.

When did you last service your bike?
Which one?.....Im a compulsive bike cleaner so they usually get a wipe over most days, bath once a week and full strip down once to twice a month. Crazy I know….

Last time you were approached by the police was:
Regularly approached but often not caught…they really need to learn how to ride!

Last car accident:
In 1994, my mini really didn’t like the wet. I’ve been told I drive like an old lady so they are few and far between.

Most foul food ever eaten:
Would have to be McDonalds…except for their breakfasts…food for champions. Just ask Rennie!

Most cash you've had in your hand:
$25,000…then dropped it on new camera gear.

Is it possible to have too many sponsors?
I rekon its possible to not have enough. Lets be honest, all your mates are your sponsors. You can usually build up a sweet bike with borrowed parts that you know your never going to return! Hahaha

One person you'd love to see become a member of Farkin is:
Jessica Simpson....oh wait, never mind, we already have too many people speaking without thinking first. Is this fish chicken?

Thanks Sam for incuding me in this prestigious role. I hope we can all learn a little from the shit we write. ‘Remember its not really shit till it comes out yer ass!!!’

Are you serious? I reckon you can get some absolute steals out there. Plus how much do you reckon you paid for a box brownie back in the day? :p And then you had to add developing costs, darkrooms, paper, blah blah, you've got it easy, point+shoot+photoshop = PRO. :p

That chicka is well sweet. Top interview again Demo. Nice meeting you to Chris :D
