My son, Oscar Lapstun, in the U17's, had a crash just below the last log drop on his race run Sunday. Does anybody know if the spectators that he ran into are ok as he is worried? Thanks:)

I didn't find out about what had happened till we were in the car going home. This morning he was unable to move his neck and had a crashing headache, so spent the day at the docs and getting cat scan of his head and getting another of his neck tomorrow. Seems better tonight but he is still worried about the spectators.

It's usually a "badge of honnor" for spectators to get taken out by a rider, particularly if it was a young male.
I'm surprised no body has posted here yet.
That said I hope the spectator is ok, and of course, I hope everything is ok with Oscar.

I saw the crash in question and two of my mates had to jump out of the way. He knocked over a woman, but she seemed fine and keep watching for a while.

While on the subject of crashes I would like to thank everyone involved in helping me from the track on Saturday (masters with the thigh injury). Special thanks to Steve and the riders who helped me to the car and the medics that were on the track. We all know at times the first aid can be a contentious issue, but these two guys were fanastic and in my opinion should be available for all races (if possible).

The medics at the event are actually off duty ambulance officers.
They cost the club $1400 for the two days and were worth every cent of it.
They are available for events like this and can be contacted at

To anyone that is injured at an MTB event, make sure that you report your injury to a club official or preferably to an onsite medic and have the injury recorded.
If there is no record of the injury you cannot make any claims for assistance from MTBA.
Dirt Demon didn't have a choice about reporting his accident. He was a bit of a captive audience.
