That's great, why not go for a follow-up coverage, there is half a chance that some whinger will write in an complain that these kids shouldn't wreck the environment/ride bikes/ have fun etc etc. Maybe look at pre-empting it by writing in a letter to the editor voice your support for the proposal and as a young person with lots of obesse friends you would like the opportunity to ride somewhere local that was legal. (or something like that).

The great thing is that we actually approached the peak residents/community lobby group first before we planned anything and got their support. Rather than having a residents group opposed to the project, they're fully behind it. The site that we've provisionally selected is fairly central, is currently unused and already zoned as "urban public space" which is supposed to be utilised for community recreation and there is no threatened habitat or fragile environment that we would be damaging in the process.

We'll make sure that the proposal has the I's dotted and the T's crossed and all the issues as far as liability/risk analysis have been thought through properly before we go presenting it to anyone. Time spent here at the outset stands to save us a lot of grief further on down the road.

Amazing though how they managed to stuff my name up within two paragraphs of spelling it correctly. Oh well, the usual journo typos aside it was still a good win for us.

I also have the original article we did for the local "Gungahlin Gunsmoke" newsletter which I will scan in and post up at the first opportunity (for those who care).

Now, just have to sit back and wait for the govt to call. (waiting, waiting, waiting)

As promised, below is a link to the article CORC got published in the August issue of Gungahlin Gunsmoke about the proposed jump park and MTB trails.

It's a bit under a meg, but I had to maintain the size to keep it readable (apologies to the dial-up diehards).
